There will then be a draw on April 8 for matchups within those groups with the caveat that MLS teams cannot face each other in that round. A similar process will take place for the subsequent Round of 32 with 8 geographic groups of 4 created. Each of those groups will have one of the MLS teams that got a bye into that round. Pairings will then be randomly drawn. "Instances where a logical geographic fit doesn’t exist in determining the groups will be resolved by random selection."
