Dems are so screwed, as we are castigated for not doing enough, but then excoriated for grandstanding.

People, can we please please please stop and think things through for a moment?

Newsom is a lot like Trump, that can carry him to the nomination.

    He fights.

Repped because the only time I will ever vote for Newsom is if he’s the Dem candidate against MAGA.

AOC-Mamdani would be the GOP dream ticket.

Trump 2016 was a Democrat party dream ticket.

Yes but in 2016, Pence was specifically there to hold the traditional conservative Trump skeptics (like my parents).

AOC and Mamdani are basically two radical leftists, which has the chance to turn off large swaths of moderate voters, especially with lightning rod Trump off the ballot.

Both from New York, so one of the many reasons it would never happen.

Maybe she would pick a fellow socialist, but probably from outside the North East.

Need at least one moderate voice on the ticket, if not two. The key to winning a presidential election is in the suburbs. These folks may not like Trump's style, but they are also not into the urban leftist activist stuff that appeals to the Big Soccer Dot Com crowd or your typical Gender Studies professor at Berkeley. There's a reason Kamala was trying to moderate her positions.

Chances of becoming Democratic presidential nominee in 2028

    Gavin Newsom: 14%
    Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: 10%
    Pete Buttigieg: 10%
    Josh Shapiro: 7%
    Wes Moore: 6%
    Stephen A. Smith: 6%
    Kamala Harris: 5%

    (Via Kalshi prediction market)

Let me do all you Dems a favor and implore you to nominate Shapiro. It's your best shot.

Harris leaning towards entering CA gubernatorial race for 2026. If she wins that would likely rule her out of a 2028 presidential run.

“I don’t think she could, with a straight face, run for governor in 2026 without making an absolute pledge that she would not run for president in 2028,” said Garry South, a California-based Democratic strategist.

Emerson poll shows Frodo Baggins with the largest early share of the Dem electorate, but as we saw before, by far still the worst support among black voters.

Perhaps his one saving grace is that Harris likely won't run in the D primary if she is CA governor, but this still could raise alarm bells for a general election given that other Dem candidates got at least a little support from blacks.

Something to watch, especially as Pennsylvania will continue to be crucial in presidential elections.

Dems are still getting crushed by GOPs in party registration in PA. We can't just count on Trump's unpopularity to win, this should be setting off alarm bells.

Newsom is getting on the YIMBY and Abundance bandwagon.

Fvck, I am going to end up voting for this asshole.

"“To the NIMBY movement that's now being replaced by the YIMBY movement, go YIMBYs. Thank you for your abundant mindset.”

Newsom on signing infill housing bills tonight."

""The governor, who may run for president in 2028, called the changes 'one of the most significant housing reforms in California’s history.""

Mamdani isn’t a natural-born citizen (naturalized in 2018), which means he’s ineligible to be President, so he’s also constitutionally ineligible to be Vice President per the 12th Amendment.

Does this also apply to the Speaker of the House, who would be next in line after the VP? Meaning a VP can't be born outside the US, but the Speaker can be? Or can the VP be born outside the US but ineligible to be POTUS in case the President resigns or dies?

The Speaker can be anyone that the House chooses - being eligible for the Presidency isn't a requirement, they'd just be excluded from the line of succession. I don't even think there's a requirement that they're American; the Constitution just says that the House shall choose their Speaker in Article I, Section 2 and leaves any details about the qualifications intentionally vague.

If 31-year-old Brandon Gill or Ukrainian-born Victoria Spartz became Speaker tomorrow, then Chuck Grassley would jump to 2nd in line as the Senate President pro tempore.

The Vice President must be eligible to be President. They cannot assume the office otherwise.
