And we know that FIFA can be funny with the allocation as seen with the really unbalanced Club Women World Cup allocations.
And there we have it: Women’s Olympic Football Tournament: AFC: 2.5; CAF: 2; Concacaf: 3; CONMEBOL: 2.5; OFC: 1; UEFA: 4; host country (United States): 1
Judging by what also happened for other competition (i.e. Women's Champions' Cup) I am under the impression that AFC is very weak, by a political point of view, inside FIFA in these latest years.
AFC: 2.5; CAF: 2; Concacaf: 3; CONMEBOL: 2.5 (Colombia, Brazil) OFC: 1; UEFA: 4; host country (United States): 1
Bah. I hope AFC will win the play-off to at least make things right as they should have been in the first place.
Only explanation I can see for giving CONCACAF so many slots is that they are no longer considering the host slot as a part of a given confederation's allocation.
