I never said it was only the working class, I said it was mainly working class people leaving for economic reasons. It most certainly wasn't all the courageous and talented Portuguese who left Portugal solely because of Salazar. Not sure about the Portuguese in other European countries. I also noticed no one works out in Portugal. There are no gyms.

I went to school with dozens of people who had Irish last names, they told me they were Portuguese, I asked why their name is Perry or Rogers and they explained their family changed it when they arrived to America to fit in.. Where are you that this isn't common knowledge.. Here in Massachusetts it is extremely common to see Portuguese last names that were shortened or outright changed..
