Also Costa is straight cheeks and I called this out months ago... Dude couldn't stop a volleyball lately.. Even if we win against the mighty Armenia at home on Sunday, this current squad and terrorist manager are getting absolutely CLAPPED in June.. Hopefully we lose to the mighty Armenia on Sunday, maybe then the FPF will have some pressure to sack the bald scrotum head..

Why is a beast 6'3'' Palhinha on the bench consistently in place of a slow, lazy 5'10'' Ruben Neves when we play these tall low block teams.. What in the actual F*CK is going through this "managers" mind when he creates the starting 11.. The fact this team still hasn't been able to figure out a strategy against inferior mediocre joker low block teams is laughable.. Literally any excuse of a NT can beat Portugal by just airing the ball over the heads of our lazy ass CBs, pray for a goal on the counter attack and proceed to play bully ball and park the bus for the win.. If I was Armenia's manager, I would be rubbing my hands right now and drooling at the thought of ruining Portugal's WC dreams by some ridiculous blunder on Diogshit Costa in his current awful form..

Palhinha is shit, he only suits noob tactics like what Ireland plays

We lost todsy because the front three was horrific. We looked like Spain before they got yamal and william, posssesion with cucks up front. Bernardo isn’t even bad, but he’s placed in a role where he’s expected to be some phenom dribbling winger which is not how he plays or has ever played. Today shows how improtsnt Pedro Neto is for this team. One of our only players with pace and a great all around game

Pedro Neto is essentially a Diego capel. Runs in a straight line and boots the ball to nowhere. Looks like he’s doing something but after a few games you start to realize that’s all he does.

wining nations league felt good in the moment but its realistically the worst possible thing that couldve of happened for us...... but like everyone has been saying. Its the same old shit. Ronaldo missed a penalty vs solvenia or solvakia with time still left to play and cried...... he won the nations league (decent competition but nothing crazy) and dropped to the floor and broke down like he won the world cup. His interview with morgan clearly shows you how insane this man is..... Add this outburst to the list. Hes become mentally fragile.

The time to walk away from the game gracefully has expired. He cant move anymore. During this game he made runs into tight pockets of space and vitinha repeatedly chose not to give him the ball, not because vitinha "doesnt like" ronaldo, its because these guys dont trust him anymore. Hes off pace, first touch is gone. He looks like a saudi league striker. Vitinha was even giving the ball to dooky felix in those positions, that tells you all you need to know. I hope he gets a three game suspension.

Ive said this acouple times ill say it again: IF YOU DONT PLAY IN THE TOP EUROPEAN FOOTBALL LEAGUES YOU SHOULD NOT GET A CALL UP TO THE NATIONAL TEAM!

you are spot on it is a different level entirely.
Ive said this to a friend that supports Portugal but Ronaldo is increasing his chances for more trophies with Portugal continuing post 2022 while simultaneously decreasing Portugals chances.

This is no disrespect to what he once was but the fact is he was never a top level number 9 he always played off a striker he was the best LF of all time in his peak but those that watched him in season 2 and 3 at Juventus saw how he had to begin shooting so much to get his goals which made the team dependent on him and killed the other forwards like Dybala and slowly the team regressed. This was 6 years ago.

He is unique so anything is possible but what team has won a world cup with a 40 year old striker? Never been done. What team has won a world cup with striker from a retirement league starting for them? Never been done.

Portugal have a window to win a world cup. I don’t see how there is any logic that he dose not hurt those chances. He might be taken along for the ride and finish a big chance which he can still do and maybe that will work but it seems like a huge disadvantage physically and psychologically for this group to have him as a reference point.

Mind you I will say the same about Messi at this point he is far removed from the top level and we saw this in the Copa America .. he left everything he had left on the field in 2022. Only difference is he is a bit younger and like a Modric he has the vision to let the ball do the work but you are still playing a man down physically. And look where the game is going with Bayern Barca PSG its all about legs and presssing the box with a high line.

Either way every expert here got there wish no Ronaldo against Armenia a team Ramos can easily bag a brace against and then start the world cup and force Martinez to keep Ronaldo on the bench.

I'll gladly eat crow if he keeps Ronaldo on the bench at the world cup but the only person likely to score down two to Ireland was him (yeah pretend he hasn't in the past) except he lost his mind. So let's see what punheta can do.

It's a funny debate because while there are only truly a handful wold class top class CFs at the moment .. Kane Haaland Lewandowski ... then not exactly CFs but forwards Mbappe Dembele etc ... Ramos is still rated as a quality striker. His non penalty goals per minute are high. Leao is also learning to play for as a forward. Now when we compare these two to what Ronaldo was yes we can't say they wrestled the mantle away from him ... but Ronaldo has a poor record at tournaments this decade and what top class team fighting for the CL would want Ronaldo right now over Leao or Ramos even if neither of them are tippy top world class?

It's a debating Ramos against a ghost. It's also not about the goals but the off all work and the ability to link up and press and not be so predictable. France won a world cup with Giroud Italy won a Euro with Immobile Argentina won with Alvarez none of these are world class strikers.

Ramos will never be able to compete with Ronaldo's reputation but even if he had as bad a goal record as Ronaldo this decade per minute in tournaments not qualifiers which seems almost impossible he would be an improvement physically.

I get it Ronaldo can give a one off moment. But that's becoming a gamble. And the window won't be open forever. Ramos does not need to be elite he simply needs to be good.

In the end it won't matter Ronaldo and Felix will start at the world cup and who knows maybe they will win the world cup with that attack plus the weapons off the bench. It's not impossible it just seems like wishful thinking. The alternative attack dosen't make them top favourites either but to me it seems like a realistic possibility because the midfield and most of the defence is so good.

We will get slaughtered at the world cup. I think Ramos looked more dangerous than Ronaldo against Ireland.
I am a big fan of Ronaldo in general, but that recent interview was really weird!

Klose was still playing in a top league, he wasn't the focal point of Germany's attack, you could sub him off whenever you wanted, and he didn't start or even play every game. Huge difference.

Ronaldo already played a World Cup at 37. He did not do well. Now he's even older.

Btw, if Portugal qualifies tomorrow, then going by the book, Ronaldo should be suspended for the first two games of the World Cup. A red card for violent conduct carries an automatic 3 game suspension, and friendlies don't count. We'll see if that actually happens.

Exactly this. It's not only about goals, his general play is much more useful.

And again, this isn't strictly about needing to start Ramos specifically. There's multiple options they could use in attack, including some that involve starting Ronaldo.

If Martinez did a 352 like Inter Milan and used Ronaldo next to Leao or Ramos it could work. Then Ronaldo can play as a poacher but as a sole CF which he never was adept at i.e back to goal link up in tight spaces for me against any decent side it becomes a problem. Which we've seen since 2018 where Portgual essentially have no goals in a knock out game going on 10 years during what is essentially a golden generation featuring an aging forward who is among the best goal scorers of all time .. dosen't add up.

Yes he scored in the Nations League against Spain but Mendes put it on a plate. Yes he still has great instincts and is ice cold finishing one on one which Leao certainly is not ...which is why he could play as a poacher.

I think playing Felix he is essentially trying to play a 442 where Felix is the SS to Ronaldo's CF even tho it says 4231 on paper but this really does not take advantage of Portugals midfield talent which is only 2nd to Spain for technical ability to dominate the tempo.

well said. I was the biggest ronaldo fan boy.I would wake up at 7am on the weekend to watch his early premier league games. I would call in sick for champions league games.... i would tune in and watch the boring italian league (sorry i know your italian) ive probably seen at least 85% if not more of his goals scored on live tv, for ******** sakes ill even tune in once in a while and watch him play in saudi! I AM RONALDO FAN, and because of that ive closely watched the evolution of his game, towards his later years at madrid the decline was starting to appear, in Turin it was evident and after that it was undeniable. You said it perfectly, its only because of his GREATNESS that he can perhaps pull something out of his arse vs good competition in a key moment of the game. But his overall performances HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE. Fathter time has never lost a fight and ronaldo is just another victim. He cant move anymore, he stuggles to beat saudi defenders 1v1. Pace is gone.

I completely agree with you, Ramos doesnt need to be ronaldo, he just needs to be good/decent. His link up play is better, first touch is better, pressing is better, pace is better and depending on the opposistion those qualities are important.

CB still looks suspect outside of Ruben Dias. Inacio and Antonio Silva do not cut it IMO. I'd lean toward Veiga, although from what I heard he sucked ass against Hungary - but he's in the Foreigners Starting XI of La Liga of the season so far according to one of the Spanish newspapers, per a Record article I read earlier this week. Might be worth developing further. That or dragging Pepe out of retirement. I think Ricardo Carvalho is part of the coaching staff actually - maybe he can suit up.
