I pondered if that's the best approach as well. But I don't think so. I think it's better to start Son and bring Oh or Cho as an impact sub vs tired legs of the defense in the 60-65th min. Son demands so much attention from defenses that he needs to be out there. I have however wondered if Son can start left with Cho/Oh up top to start and subbing in for the other. LJS doesn't seem 100% so we can use him as a sub. I just want to see Son and Oh out there together. I think that'll be scary for opposing defenses.
Man, that's really not respectful at all. He's one of the greatest players to ever wear the Korean National Team jersey. As a LAFC season ticket holder, I had been more disappointed than others... seeing this goalless campaign... but he's done enough to earn my respect for as long as he plays. Having said that... I would like to see BJH out there on the left with Oh up top... time for a generational change... maybe in the 3rd game vs South Africa if we win vs Mexico and have locked up the knockout stage.
Oh, hard disagree. I thought he looked fantastic. No one on the Korea roster can do what he does. Not even mimic it. He might be the most talented player in all of Group A.
Id like to see what you wrote there at the end. I think the "clutch of Cho" needs to be explored a bit more thoroughly. He seems to have that in him He is a big game player and the way he fought his way back after being devastated through injury....that dude has some fighting/character in him for sure
Comparing his abilities to teammates and others is irrelevant. At the high level he plays professionally and the quality he has, that was an average game. Didn't downplay his talent. If he's going to play right wing, he needs to up his physical game and play more aggressively especially against a low block. If he's just physically incapable of consistently making aggressive runs throughout the game, he should consider playing deeper and a more central role. He already has great ball retention and passing ability so he'd thrive in a metronome role. Meh, it's just my armchair opinion in the end.
Edit for typographical error. Two top: Sonaldo + Oh Hyun Gyu Three Mid: Hwang In Beom, Paik Seung Ho, Lee Kang In Sonaldo will drop back anyways so Hong will get to keep his midfield quadrant.
Do they measure acceleration as well? It would be more informative to provide both sets of data. Because if the ball is gone from player's vicinity before he hits his top speed, that stat becomes less impressive.
It is still impressive given his age in my opinion. But he has indeed lost a lot as an athlete compared to his prime years. Maybe it is not just the burst of acceleration that is no longer with him, but perhaps the coordination of the steps also, I would say his ability shoot mid-sprint has gone down.
That's what he did though most of the match. Technically lined up as RW but he free roamed and played as a central midfielder helping bring the ball up (because no one else can do that) and put balls into dangerous areas.
yeah theres no real way to demonstrate this or the info hasnt come out if its recorded. obviously what you're referring to is situational and not a blanket account of his current state of play. im still holding out hope that what he's experiencing is mostly psychological and him not being played correctly. these two factors kind of leaning on eachother at the moment. he was off last game for example but he was'nt that far off as he managed to threaten on several occasions. we all saw that. and his woes came pretty much when LAFC made that managerial change and I dont think that was a coincidence. deep ruts can be a terrible and difficult place to dig yourself out of. this is cope for sure but as long as he can continue drawing defenders, he is still indirectly creating opportunities out there
He should consider changing position full time to deeper playmaking role. His ball retention and distribution skills are too good to waste in final third as a half winger.
