I wonder if Mexico will be arrogant and put zero marker on Son because he got a big case of the yips. Let Son shoot all he wants because he can’t hit a broadside of a barn from yesterday’s performance. Shots went wide, high, wrong foot, or straight to the keeper.
i really don’t get this Son hate i mean it wasn’t his best of course but it wasn’t horrible. the complaints to me have been over the top and it’s not just here or the posters here like i said before most teams are locked in on his paradigm/reputation and see him as the top korean baller w LKI finally being recognized. a lot of ignorance out there still and most national teams think that’s all we have and build their defenses around Son the hate feels like an echo chamber snowball
It was frustrating to see him blowing several chances away, but Czech couldnt press high because of him in the 1st half. Also, he always had 2-3 players on him, and he still used his speed to make chances to shoot. As soon as he got subbed out, Czech pressed very high. His existence alone helps the team in certain ways for sure, but I still prefer not to see him as a striker.
------------------------------------------- Oh Hyeon Gyu -------------------------------------------(In-form Target Man) ----------------Son Heung Min ------------------------------------Lee Kang In -----(Inverted Left Wing w/ Right Foot)-----------(Inverted Right Wing w/ Left Foot) ---------------------------------------------Hwang In Beom -------------------------------------(Attacking Central Midfielder) These four in this formation could do a lot of damage.
Watching US vs Paraguay. I don’t see us beating the US. Just faster & more dynamic attacking. edit: fun match so far. USMNT is absolutely dominating.
yeah i get it, but hes a hero in my eyes. Weve been fortunate to have had him for the last decade and a half. He still made things happen with his runs and when he got the ball.
I just read comments made by the Czech coach after the game. he said Son was a problem even if he didn’t score goals he praised Son as a "true legend", acknowledging his "tactical gravity" and dangerous influence. Koubek admitted the Czech squad specifically devised plans to contain him, but ultimately noted South Korea's fast, collective attack was too much sitting him is a crazy idea
Yup. i get fans are frustrated that Son didnt score but he is our main guy. Id rather him miss his chances in our first game and him showing up in later games when its crunch time.
And i dont understand ppl who think Son is slow now lol. He was the fastest player on the pitch with 35.2km/h. I still think his best position is left winger but we just cant afford to drop LJS....
asking Grok : Around five years ago, during the 2020–2021 Premier League season, Son Heung-min's tracked top sprint speed hovered around 34.4 km/h to 35.0 km/h.
yeah i don't get the hate either. It's fine to criticise him but people are getting toxic af. It's also just one game. People are forgetting how often Korea has been bailed out by Son. Lets not forget Son's assist to Hwang Lee Chan in the portugal game in Qatar. I see Korean people on reddit overly being toxic about Son. Mate you're not a real Korean or you're just an absolute loser at home. the miss after he received the pass from Lee Jae Sung was bad but a lot of the so called chances "he missed" were not even easy chances. People are acting like we have bunch of attackers who have a record of scoring. This 3 back formation worked against czech but its too passive and leaves midfield too open. i don't get why korea is playing 3 centre backs at the back. it's horrible in the long term. Just play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and let Son and Oh Hyeon Gu play up top together.
da boy is a shark...let him roam and line break. I do not like him on the ball but when making them runs, he can be deadly still.
Son isn't in his peak prime form. If he were, there is no doubt in my mind we top this group easily. But I honestly believe him just being out there is drawing so much attention and tiring our opposing defenses physically and mentally that an early sub like Oh can come in and do his damage. I think that's what happened in this game. Having said that, I think stubbornly keeping him out until 75th minute would have been a mistake so while I had been incredibly critical of Hong Myung Bo (as many others have been), I thought it took some guts to sub Son off and get Oh in at the exact time I feel was necessary to mount the comeback.
