HMB made the mistake of only subbing in 1 player after the conceded goal, but HIB bailed him out. I hoped we'd win at 1-1, but Souček could have ruined our day.

I just watched the highlight and LKH was the one who failed to defend when we conceded, including the one that was cancelled bc of offside.. He also made a very bad mistake in the 1st half.. Not sure if he will still start when KTH is back and healthy. I heard he won't play in the group stage but might be back in the knockout stage.. Man I really wish we had Kim Ju Sung.

Great result in the end. Should be through now. KMJ is a beast and MOTM for me. Hwang got better and better with the game. Son feels like Koreas Ronaldo. Sad to see. I dont understand why Paik and why start Gi-Hyuk instead of Castrop? He wasnt that great either so. Czech got their set pieces but dont feel they have so much more..
HIB has a strong East European (Slavic) accent when speaking English. I honestly would not be able to tell he was Korean if only audio was played to me. Years in Russia, Greece and Serbia really shaped his voice.
Player Ratings: Kim Seung Gyu (A) - Crucial Superman saves. Solid overall. Throw in goal was unlucky. The Czechia captain made a smart run and powered through. If Lee Gi Hyeok jumped slightly higher / won the defensive header, chance possibly could have been denied. I don't blame either Seung Gyu or Gi Hyeok for that goal. Lee Han Beom (B) - Very solid. Used his size and workrate to marshal the defense with Monster. Was gassed towards the final whistle from all the hustling. Kim Min Jae (A) - Wily veteran. Drew on his wealth of experience to lead the defense. Match saving challenge to cover for Lee Gi Hyeok's blunder. Lee Gi hyeok (C) - Was average. He almost cost the team in first half with that blunder, which allowed the Czechia attack to make a dangerous run into the box. But, overall had an ok game. (Can't fault the guy for the throw in goal.) In terms of their volume and approach (set piece threat), the Czechia were eventually going to get that chance from set piece and aerial prowess, and that time converted into their goal. Seol Young Woo (C) - Decent offensive support but didn't offer much direct threat. His playmaking from the wings was average. He didn't have a torrid game (glass half full). Hwang In Beom (S) - Goal and assist. Cog in the two man mid. Sparked the life into the team with that game changing equalizer. Paik Seung Ho (C) - Average but did his job. Ball distribution and retention and help out wherever needed. If a passer gets unnoticed, he's usually doing his job. Lee Tae Seok (B) - Played with a lot of heart and grit like his old man. Made crucial challenges and drove the left flank with his work rate. Got bodied multiple times ground and air by the Czechia players but kept moving forward. Might have to rotate with all the damage he received. Lee Kang In (B) - Got the assist, but expected much more from him granted he was given license to roam to find space and pick passes from deep. He really needs to show more leadership by dictating the offense more assertively. Like Sonaldo, he was a marked man. Always had two to three Czechia defense/mid hounding him denying him space, but that's where expectations are high. You want someone of his talent and stature to be able to unlock the opposition, which he finally did, but more is always welcome. Lee Jae Sung (B) - Buildup partner to Sonaldo and consistent offensive threat. Methodical but lacked pace and power. Thought the coach should have subbed him off even earlier for a more dynamic player. Son Heung Min (B) - Captain and biggest name on the roster, so Czechia coaching made sure to always have two to three (even four) players mark him or readjust to deny him space on the field to try to stifle his offensive threat. He had at multiple chances to score. Unfortunately, none led to goals. However, that's not the rest of the story. From the first whistle, he was constantly a thorn on the oppositional defense and commanded deep respect from them. Case in point: After he came off for Oh Hyun Gyu, the Czechia got more bold and aggressive from the back (until the final whistle) opening space. Ironically, that inadvertently created the space for that counter opportunity in the final third where Oh was able to score. He is not a proper nine. He would benefit playing off a proper target man as a second striker (For those that liken him to Ronaldo, compare Ronaldo with Big Ben and without him). But, he's selfless as always whether dropping deep to help out mid and defense or pressuring the flanks. Considering his age and constant involvement in multiple facets of the game, the fact that he was even able to regulalry get into position and attacking runs to make multiple goal scoring attempts should be lauded. Subs Hwang Hee Chan (C) - Expected more from him. He brought more dynamism on the left in contrast to Lee, but can always improve his performance. Oh Hyun Gyu (A) - Super Sub. Clutch and used to pressure. His early career history has shown that. He single-handedly kept the Samscrubs from relegation before they made the egregious decision to sell him to Celtic and get relegated the next season. Subbed onto a pivotal moment, and scored that clutch winner, which should boost his confidence even more. Reinforces why proper nines remain important in a world of Jack-of-All-Trades. Eom Ji Sung (B) - Pace and energy. Exactly what was needed for the closing moments of the game. Interested to see how he peforms with more minutes. Kim Jin Gyu (D) - Selfish blocked shot leading to counter. Aside from that, nothing noteworthy in his cameo. Park Jin Seob (C) - Defensive contribution in his cameo.
