    Your logic is very autistic.

Portugal didn’t qualify directly in 2022. Therefore qualifying directly is no longer expected of a team of that quality. It definitely can’t be that the manager ********ed up. It’s Serbia being massive and it now means the bar for a top 5 national team on the planet is not qualifying directly to a 48 team tournament.

Slovakia had a cute moral victory against England. It definitely can’t be the England manager was shit and should have put Slovakia away easily. No, it means Slovakia is a very dangerous squad.

Grimsby knocked United out the league cup this year. Is Grimsby a dangerous squad too?

This is a pointless discussion. You’re continuously lowering the bar for Portugal because you want to protect this mediocre manager from any sort of criticism. Managers no longer seem to be at fault for poor team results, you’ve now virtuously changed your mind to thinking it’s all on a Slovakia type team being dangerous and for some reason the performance of the England manager doesn’t have anything to do with it.

Ultimately we’re not going to see eye to eye because we have very different expectations for Portugal. You think qualifying is a massive achievement. Everyone else thinks it’s the bare minimum. You think beating the teams we’re supposed to beat and losing to the teams we’re supposed to lose to is a success. Everyone else thinks it’s the bare minimum. You want a manger to deliver on betting odds. Everyone else wants a manager that can win something relevant.

Yeah I'm not going to bother with him anymore. Insane levels of delusion over an obviously mediocre manager.

Also accuses of me getting angry and touchy over something I don't give a shit about at all, when he was the one who kept escalating things. lol.

    my starting team:

    Costa
    Nunes Dias Inácio Mendes
    Vitinha Neves Fernandes (or Bernardo)
    Conceição Ronaldo ?

not sure who to put on the left TBH

Leao if he finds form and isn’t distracted y prostitutes maybe.. Ramos up front with Ronaldo?

the first 3 games they’ll park the bus, so we need an attacking lineup.

    decent team

no Ramos? The kid scores off the bench a lot for PSG. Not convinced about Neto this season but there’s really no one else.

Bernardo needs to replace Fernandes off the bench surely

Bernardo is everywhere for City. He needs to play in the right position and can’t play with Fernandes IMO. I admit he hardly ever reproduces his club form for Portugal though.

either way I’m not confident. Ronaldo will play like crap and will cry like a baby on the bench

I wouldn't start him, but don't pay mind to anything Sporting fans say about Bernardo.

Bernardo is hilariously AWFUL for Portugal.. No thanks.. Ramos is also a bum, did you not watch the Mexico and USA friendlies? A proper striker would have had like 3 goals between those two matches.. No thanks again.. Both of Bernardo and Ramos have missed so many wide open net chances it's pathetic.

The real bum is Ronaldo man.. when was the last time he scored in a major tournament? I wouldn't start him, but we know he's going to start and play full games.

I wouldn't judge a player by a couple of friendlies. It's not easy to slot into the main striker position when you've hardly played in that position for your country. It takes time to gel with other players.

Brother did you see Ramos play vs Mexico? No offense but I would rather have anybody but him start up front.. 41 year old scored against Germany and Spain.. He (Ramos) couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.. Great service from Bruno and the rest of the midfield/attack too..

I'm not sure he deserves to start either, but it's hilarious how people are using a couple of friendlies to completely write off Ramos, when Ronaldo has also been an absolute zero in some far more important games the past few years. At least when Ramos isn't scoring, he's still useful in other ways.

Quite frankly the whole CF position is toast, I don't think there's a single Portuguese striker having a decent season in a top league, all they have are guys playing in Mexico and Scotland. Beto at Everton could have been an option, but he was somehow never capped by Portugal and he switched to Guinea-Bissau. I think the best option is either to play a false 9 or stick a winger up front.

We've been having this discussion about Portuguese strikers for over 20 years, it's ridiculous how Portugal has been able to produce world class players at every position but CF. Every prospect ends up either flaming out or not being that good.

I like the idea of a false 9 since we lack true depth at CF.. We have struggled to produce any talent in this position outside of Ronaldo and maybe Jota, since the Pauleta era.. Hell, I'd even take Hugo Almeida over Ramos if he was younger..

I think it's because in general Portuguese players are small.. Look at the modern-day strikers, they're all massive and very strong physically. TBH there aren't many world class strikers at the moment IMO.

I don't buy that. You don't have to be really big to be a good striker. CB is also the biggest outfield position, and yet they've still managed to produce some quality CBs, or at least a much better collection of CBs than CFs. A lot of the strikers who didn't pan out aren't that small either.

The top Portuguese striker prospects atm are guys like Chermiti, Nel, and Cabral, who are all on the bigger side. If they don't make it, I doubt it will have anything to do with lack of size or physicality.

He’s not wrong though, most of the top 10ish strikers right now are petty big. Only Lautaro and Julian Alvarez are under 6 feet really.

I mean at Euro 2024 yes but he scored 8 goals in 9 matches at the Nations League and scored 5 goals in WC qualifying that directly contributed to 7 points. And he played top teams in the Nations League. Scored against Germany, Spain, etc.

This is highlighted because Ramos has been straight up ass at PSG. 6 goals this season, WTF. That's beyond abysmal.
