Martinez does what the agents and FPF tell him to do. He's Mike McCarthy of international soccer. There's a reason they picked this perennial loser over a proven winner.
Palhinha was injured in January and March no? Regardless of what bald fraud "favors" it is abundantly clear that Palhinha performs very well whenever he gets called up.. That's what leads me to believe there is an injury we don't know about.. Happens all the time, the players keep it on the down low unless it is something major. They don't wanna hurt their market value.. Why would you NOT wanna call up your 6'3'' bruiser CDM all of a sudden? Hmmm...
Rumours circulating that regardless of what happens, Martinez will leave the national team after the world cup. Strange that this started the day before our first match... BREAKING: Roberto Martinez will leave Portugal after this World Cup regardless of how the team performs.Martinez has already decided not to renew his contract, which expires after the tournament. He is open to a Premier League return, but hasn't ruled out taking another… pic.twitter.com/V3dr45VfCT— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) June 16, 2026
I don’t like him, but Jorge Jesus would have this group playing some fantastic football. I could see many of our players unlocking their highest potential offensively with him leading the team. One thing he knows well is attacking football.
Midget boy gets his hattrick.. You know Ronaldo is gonna get in his own head and put on a stink fest tomorrow vs Congo now... Oh boy.. I'm going with a 2-2 draw or a squeaker 3-2 win.. No Ronaldo goal... Subbed off in the 60-70th minute fuming in anger, throwing his captain band onto the pitch..
Stubborn old people rarely do well in positions of real power. He's more suited to the middling leagues he's been in the last few years.
I think the Aussies are just better suited for playing that formation due to the abundance of CB in their squad. I think they have 6 or 7. I wouldn't mind trying a 5 back system if they actually had a decent amount of quality CB to choose from. Because we dont even know who will start next to Dias let alone another CB (Hoping its Veiga though). The hardest position, other than goal keeper, in my humble opinion, is CB. Most CB tend to get better as they get older. With time, they learn how to read the flow/speed of the game and anticipate the attacking team as they gain experience. Of course there is always exceptions to this. I can use Carvalho or Pepe for example. It did take some time for those two players to become world class.
Ruben Dias is injured again.. Shocker can you imagine that.. Dude is so awful for his country like Bernardo all star for city but turns into a disabled make a wish kid when they put a Portugal jersey on.. Leave his sorry ass behind, should’ve called up Edu or Antonio lmao what a joke.. Buddy is built like a glass chandelier for his nation.. I’ll take a 44 year old Pepe over him at this point.. Hell give Jose Fonte a call while you’re at it..
Definitely miss Fonte. WTF with Palinha not being called up, that was the first thing I checked for. As for Ronaldo he just modulates himself when there's a strong second. Nani I really miss because somehow Ronaldo plays off the dynamic of a clear second who doesn't try to cede everything to Ronaldo and doesn't shrink from chances but plays a team game. Jota was becoming that. Being the man for two decades now f***s with CR7's head. All that stuff disappeared when he had a second who matched him and his attitude. Hopefully Leao does that today. Anyway I hope they kill kill kill.
LMAO -- could be fake but you never know. 🚨🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: FIFA Referees Committee president Pierluigi Collina was reportedly considering an internal review of Szymon Marciniak's performance during Argentina's 3-0 victory over Algeria. Tv directors mustve made a mistake showing Infantino edging hard when Messi scored his third, dude was elated
Damn, must be sick being an Argentine player in the World Cup. You can score goals with your hands, commit red card worthy fouls and not even get a yellow, etc. and nobody gives a shit.
The PK given against Croatia in 2022 was legit -- GK foul all the way. Can't recall the others right now. I know for sure he should have been Booked against the Dutch for the blatant hand ball. Anyhow. Argentina were better BUT Zidane's son conceded 2 stinkers in the Algeria goal. Another nepo fraud who surely only has the job because of his father. If he was half decent and kept those 2 out and/or Messi was sent off at 1-0 was a completely different match. I can easily see a situation where they know everybody will be paying attention from here on out and overcorrect and Book him for a chinzy foul and say "see everything is legitimate!!!".
That was 100% a red.. If he got sent off and didn't have papa Infantino and his personal ref, he doesn't score the hat trick.. Already giving gifts to VARgentina and Pessi.. Sad.. Argenfifaintino..
Also judging from the public feedback apparently scoring a hat-trick against Algeria is more impressive than scoring one against Spain in a World Cup opener.
a hat-trick that shouldn't have even happened if he got properly booked for a red.. Argentina got an insanely easy group too. You know Pessi is gonna stat pad hard against Jordan too..
