Reading about it. Apparently they spent an oil tanker of money wooing him, only for him to go to Madrid. Because every football journo in the world knows Mbappé and his advisors, a meeting in a hotel or somesuch was out of the question. So two private planes were rented, flew from Nice(?) or somewhere in southern France, flew as far as Paris and then returned to Nice. What I do find interesting is that after he went to Real, both his agent and Romano said that not only had Mbappé and his team not been in contact with Liverpool, they had been in contact with no PL sides. This was repeated more than a few times. Why they would feel the need the deny Liverpool contact once the Real deal was done is beyond me. Anyway… Mind you, can you imagine that forward line? Salah, Firmino, Mané and Mbappé? I suspect Mo might have scored fewer goals overall.
Mbappe has made more defensive actions in 5 games for France than he did in 50 for madrid this year. But 20 goals in 21 world cup games is ridiculous - even if the competition has been watered down via expansion. He'll still be in prime shape in 4 years and could be a force still still at 34 in 8 years.
