he's definitely an Indian. they are the only ones in the world left that aren't repulsed by them.

actually, scratch that... in Canada the older generation Indians that used to assimilate can't stand them either.. so not even their own kind like them.

You just keep a sharp eye out while driving on those Canadian highways ya hear? You never know if you're driving near one handling an 18 Wheeler Truck and so distracted in his phone ( with God knows what filth ? ) that he mows you down into oblivion? I mean it's not like Trudeau would ever blame him here and to make matters worse he would have an army of his own ( tribal as they cant accept blame and lose face here ) claiming that he was really the victim ( bonkers philosophy and integrity they have ). Ya know it all makes sense they claim , because of racism and something to do with the British from hundreds of years ago.

Also watch out for those Uber Scooter drivers! They will mow you down in a second too!

There are still some proper cricket countries that have normal squads filled with their natives:

Okay, a few South Asians and other racial minorities here and there but still pretty normal for the most part.

Of course mate ! You just picked like the only ( still White ) nations on the planet that still give a damn about cricket since its inception. Go to other federations now where those nations likely don't even know they even have a cricket federation. Do those and see what you find.

Yeah I'd imagine you would still find Whites on South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and England.

As someone of Indian descent myself (before someone @s me), I do agree that it's obviously not nearly as competitive as international football, and that the overall athletic output of India and the other South Asian countries is indeed quite pathetic on the whole. I have nothing but respect for the achievements of countries like Italy in this sport, and if I had to pick I'd much rather India be good at football than cricket.

Anyways, I've just been following this thread for a few months now out of curiosity about Italian football. I'm not offended at all. Just happen to know a bit about international cricket so thought I'd chime in, cheers.

But you see , you're a rational person. That's rare my friend. You easily recognize the fact that whether said athletes which are known ( to Indians ) or not known ( by the rest of the world practically) is irrelevant here . You could see by that coin that one could hardly make the case that A ) cricket is a sport at the same level of agility, strength , stamina, conditioning, etc ; that football and many other sports are. And that B ) one could also hardly make the case just because a nation has athletes ( unknown to the rest of the world ) in primarily this sport that this same nation ipso facto also has "great athletes" . I don't even consider baseball players great athletes ( many of Babe Ruth's records were probably done whilst he was hung over or still half drunk ) but man could be throw a ball ( pitcher ) and as it so happens hit a ball ( slugger ) out of the park back when many ball parks were 50 feet further from home plate in left and center field . So the man at least had immense strength one could argue fairly .

Back to the topic of expanded World Cup format...

So I took the 5 highest ranked African teams that didn't qualify to the 2026 tournament and how many of them were born and/or raised through European football Academies.

    Nigeria: 7
    Cameroon: 11
    Mali: 10
    Burkina Faso: 8
    Gabon: 5

So even with this next batch of likely participants of a bloated 64 team tournament, a fair number produced by Europe.

How can anybody say with a straight face Africa deserves these spots over Europe? Is this a charity?

    IMO:

    UEFA 23
    CAF 14
    AFC 11.25
    CONMEBOL 7.5
    CONCACAF 7
OFC 1.25 (just doesn't make sense to give them much more than that one full spot + playoff)

Or something like that. There's not a lot of scope to expand the allocations of CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, or OFC too much further. CAF and AFC will have to get at least a few more spots. But UEFA should definitely get a solid bump imo.

    @DonBartolomeoColleoni

Assuming Infantino expands the tournament another 16 teams, how many do you think he grants UEFA? As written upthread last time it was 3/16. (Absolutely NOT leading you on with one stance or another).

i could be wrong but i feel like expanding that much is going to bite them at the next world cup.

48 teams in CAN/USA/MEX was fine for the most part because we are so soccer starved and that spectacle of it.

However at 60 teams in Spain, Portugal and Morocco are they going to sell out for example the Estadio do Dragao in Porto to watch Yemen vs Madagascar?

    Yeah, it worked in No
Yeah, it worked in North America mainly because there are ethnic enclaves all over here. Then again, the way Europe is headed with their lack of borders they could have the same.

yea totally and these ethnic enclaves are starved for world class soccer. Yes you get the shit teams but still people get caught up in the spectacle. Ie- World cup vs MLS games.

Whereas in Europe.. if you don't see a world cup, no big deal you can watch a champions league or top level league a few months later and see most of those players that you wanna see anyways.
