Eh , I can't argue with any of that ( btw typos in orginal message * needed to end * ...my astigmatism keeps fvcking with my typing...yes I meant to use a V there ).
Even with corrupt refereeing, lackadaisical play and a liability in Matrix on that left side who hadnt perfected his craft yet. Croatia still needed two legitimate goals denied to Italy to beat us . Then in the final match they shit the bed to Ecuador and we go through with a 1 -1 draw with Mexico. In fact if all things held the same with the final group Croatia Ecuador match and we lost to Mexico 1 - 0 in our final group match. Well we still would have gone through many forget. We would have been all even at 3 points, yet we would have gone through, on the goal differential. That would have been next to some of the crappiest progression out the group. 3 straight draws in 1982 still had us unbeaten .
In my mind's eye, I think Pagliuca was caught far out, and when he went to thrust and go make the save, he realized almost right away he was dead and he stunted his jump. Pagliuca Despite the Ireland goal and red card in '94, he served us very well in goal for '94 and '98. He made legendary saves against Spain, Norway, and France. The Brazil post is funny to me, and besides that, he played well that game. And he gave us a penalty save each in our shootouts. So for me, I am sorry he could not win a WC but he was a soldier for us
Pagliuca let the ball fumble through his hands in the WC Final at the Rose Bowl in 1994. The ball then hit the post and he kissed it. I was at that game and no one knew what happened.
Its funny because its as if Gianluca had a good idea to the ball's trajectory ahead of it , then planned after he'd projected its odds. Because never did he seem rushed or over reactive to get back to that ball in a WC final nonetheless. Yet had the ball bounced back looking like it was going to squeak by , well then I think that's when Gianluca would have fully committed himself to a last ditch lateral dive to punch it away . Here he just calmly watched almost sensing the angle while still fully prepared to launch himself if needs be had the ball spun back differently . Thats a hallmark signature of a poised and confident goal tender after years of experience. And he still kissed the post for sparing him any last ditch extra trouble.
This is now the new normal after Viega of Portugal dove versus Croatia. Now guys will he diving in the box more than they have been. Written that absolutely no need for Haaland to do that. 2-1 Norway goal called back.
The main guys on our top studio panel (both former Internationals) do such a great job. He called for Madueke to be subbed off in favor of Saka because of his giveaways and sure enough Saka is on here to start the 2nd.
England have played absolutely horrible in this second half, but they are ending the match much better. These two teams likely playing an extra 30 Minutes will help the winner of Switzerland/ argentina.
For the benefit of those who haven’t seen the review of the ball hitting the camera cable before England’s equaliser on Fox Sports… pic.twitter.com/TQks5POkLe— Melissa Reddy (@MelissaReddy_) July 11, 2026 Bastoni’s buddy Clement Turpin strikes again
Never a PK. But I was told England never engage in the dark arts. England player clearly initiated contact.
First England goal With 4 Norway players going to the Referee to complain about the exact same thing why can't the Ref use common sense and ask VAR to look at it? This is just nonsense.
Feel bad for Norway: - They got jobbed on the first England goal. - Haaland's foul didn’t impact what should have been a Norway goal. But I am OK with this call. More correct call than incorrect. - Crossbar. - Bad 2nd Goal to concede. GK should have pushed wide or caught. - They were the better team for large stretches and played more positive.
If England wins the World Cup, I don't think we will ever hear the end of how great English players are.
I would think, given all of their more recent lost opportunities in close matches, they would still be rather humble even with this WC win . Perhaps born from their real fear that such earlier hubris had created the drought in the first place and they wouldn't want to invite that misfortune back again so soon after hypotheticaly winning. Maybe should they soon after win another trophy, providing they win this one , like either their first Euro or another World Cup win , they might start back in with that again. But I do feel many have learned their lessons in humility. Or perhaps not?
Loving the Replies in these comments Before England’s goal in minute 45+2 against Norway, the sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the 'heartbeat of the ball' when in the air, and therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball. pic.twitter.com/gYf9ukfveT— FIFA Media (@fifamedia) July 11, 2026
