I know it's tough experiencing another WC without Italia but I'm sure there will be discussions about some matches. Made this thread so we don't flood our senior team discussion with unrelated topics
Even as a neutral, I can’t get into this WC whereas for Russia and Qatar I was pretty much invested. Maybe I’ll change my mind once the games start.
I am too far into world cup obsession that I can't go back lol. I am saddened I cannot watch Italia in it for the third time in a row now, but the world cup is something I have obsessed over since age 7. Infantino has me in his grasp.
I am glad that Italy have boycotted the last 3 world cups given these administrations and their ties to war crimes. I will be happy to play at Portugal/Spain/Morocco in 2030 and then expect that we boycott 2034 in Saudi Arabia once more.
A lot of interesting teams. I was thinking it is going to be Portugal or England because I could not see this Spain win a Euro/World Cup back to back nor can I see Argentina winning back to back and Mbappe to win 2 world cups is historically unlikely. But then I started thinking wait Mbappe Dembele Olise is Ronaldo Rivaldo Ronaldinho and France is the new Brazil where they won 94 lost 98 and won 2002. Dembele is Rivaldo where the 2nd best player won a Balon D'or and the midfield and defence are made up of sturdy hard men that will allow the attackers to work their magic without getting involved too much. Now I am thinking France as historic as it would be. Only other nation to reach 3 straight finals was West Germany in 82 86 90. Even the great Pele teams did not achieve this though they did reach 3 finals in 4 editions.
If you could field 22 Bastonis on the pitch against each other, that is what I just watched. I have never seen a more collective group of retarded players play in a world cup before that match.
Really need to cleanse my timeline in a big way. Only posting this because I know the area well as I used to work close by. *also. Correction to X post. It's going Up Yonge St, not Down it. And validating that there are 2 seasons here: Winter and construction. Downtown Toronto is abuzz with World Cup fandom and police escorts for the teams. Canada’s opening match opponent Bosnia Herzegovina’s bus is making its way down Yonge street right now.Quite the entourage. One day away now folks. pic.twitter.com/xy3tgvfIvk— Devin Heroux (@Devin_Heroux) June 11, 2026
Imagine qualifying for the world cup for the first time in twenty years, you go up one nil then your head coach from 1908 subs off your three best players immediately all in one substitution
Legendary post. Bravo. Today stings a little extra knowing the first game would be in Toronto for the Azzurri. Anyways, I am interested to see how Canada-Bosnia goes down, nonetheless. I still think the Swiss will top the group but these teams both need a result.
Seriously, Mexico vs South Arica, especially South Africa, was some bad football. Legendarily awful. On the South African side of things, it's a joke a team of such ridiculously stupid quality football awareness qualified. How bad did the teams in their qualifying group have to be? There is a universe where I could see A Switzerland run not even the hippest of hipsters would expect. But we shall see. Something tells me Bosnia is going to frustrate the hell out of Canada.
Today is as bitter as I knew it was going to be. Been snapping at co-workers all day. I blamed it on the new coffee. They see me muttering to myself and asking me what does damn Bosnian ball boy mean exactly.
We'll see, I think Paraguay are walking into a hornet's nest and the Enciso injury really will derail them.
Massive mistake by Bosnia not to unleash Alajbegović from the start and with Dzeko out, I'm tipping the scales back towards Canada
Canada vs Bosnia Canada were superior. Some will say that it just appeared this way because Bosnia were protecting a lead, but even before they scored their goal to go ahead 0-1, Canada were superior. All this without their best player too. Probably turns this Draw into a Sin, or probably probably doesn't have Bosnia score that goal if he's in there. The only area of the game that Bosnia were superior were the aerial battles. One Bosnian-ic in particular, when I saw his stat of 9 for 9. Unbelievable. He was very good, they were very good in the aerial battles as a team. Canada superior elsewhere. For them, MUST win versus Qatar and keep the GD against the Swiss. Tell you this right now If Italy would have rolled in with their f****** ridiculous 3-5-2, they would have struggled today.
Good performance from Canada ...Kone was excellent as was Murahemovic ...Jonathan David was Jonathan David
