    Enzo…

Argentina doesn’t lose this if not for him. Argentina’s play had to have neutrals turning against them

Argentina left everything on the field, but they never really threatened Spain until the last few wild minutes. Spain plays the best football.

Great world cup. Can hang the banner on that one. Spain in a great position to retain their title too, theyll undoubtably be favorites next time.

Credit to Spain, deserved winners on the day. I wonder what would have happened in the match against France if not for the Digne penalty on Yamal, which is the kind of big break that you can't count on or predict. But no arguing with only one goal given up in eight games. (I think France would also have handled Argentina.)

From a US perspective, I would have loved for the US to play well in the q-finals against Spain, certainly in a loss, but whatever.

There’s probably some kind of moral in there somewhere about not getting dipshit yellows for dissent.

IMO the best team won. I have to admire how amazing both midfields were today, but Spain absolutely deserved to win. I think the match started turning when the ref got tired of the Argentinian dark arts. I have disliked E. Martinez since the last WC, but got to tip my cap to him today. Dude played his heart out.

^^^ This right here. I think you could argue fairly strongly that the game would have gone to PKs if he doesn't get booted. He's going to have to live with that for the rest of his life.

Great champion. Great game. Great World Cup. Time to take a break. Maybe come back with some club footie, then USMNT in a year or two. It was fun.

I am reminded of @sXeWesley pointing out that playing your identity is the secret. Spain did what Brazil, Netherlands and others did not
