And yet, up to that last fantastic free kick by Yamal, I actually think the best chance for a goal in this game was that Argie ball over the top in the first half. Spanish keeper had to sprint nearly to the center circle and barely got there in time, and his clearance deflected off his own player or the Argie it was heading straight to could have chipped it right in from 50 yards out.
Agreed only shot that wasn't right at the keeper was the FK at the end. Even that one was pretty close.
Spain probably "should" have scored right now -- some of their shots at the keeper were basically the only shot available but a decent number were simply poorly placed. If Argentina takes this to pens a man down, it'll be an amazing effort.
Injured and played into the ground by Barca. Spain with a fully healthy Lamal and Williams would have made this WC their bitch.
CONCACAF just lacks skill and are clumsy. Argentines are sublimely skilled and have tom foolery down to a science.
I don't think we've seen a replay where we could possibly tell. EDIT: He does step on his foot. Don't think that gets overturned.
Spain need to take a risk to get a goal; either the wingers have to beat someone or go for a long shot. But they rightfully fear an Argentine counter. If Spain had scorers as deadly as Argentina or France, they'd have a couple probably.
