I still don’t think goals in a third place match should count for a golden boot

Fortunately soccer is allowed to be fun…for some fans at least.

I’m glad we could (co)host their best run in quite a while.

I liked the scoring, but that wasn’t a real game.

The third place game should be replaced with an all-star game with players from all the eliminated teams if we just want a spectacle.

    I’ll take the scorigomi though

This thread has been amazing. Been in here for 60+ matches (which is absurd to think).
Only one more to go . . . bummer.

Hopefully for us we can get over some hurdles and beat big teams consistently now in nations league and in the euros to give us the confidence that we aren’t just the 4th and weakest leg of semi final type sides.

What do poor Frenchmen drink to forget? A couple bottles of wine? Some wicked cognac or armagnac? Maybe he's into absinthe with the sugar cube sort of icky like heroin.

Just imagine if Olise had picked England over France. That would have shifted fortunes for both France and England. And a player developed entirely in the English system.

For it to be the best ever you’re going to need a good game tomorrow.

Top 4 sides have pulled away from the sides 5th and below.

There’s nearly 120pts between England in 4th and Brazil in 5th which is enormous considering between major tournaments how little movement there is. After that 5th downwards is very marginal to the next 7 or 8 teams.

From the beginning the four semifinalists were the clear top 4 teams in the tournament.

There's no reason for players or fans to care about the Third Place Match at the World Cup. Easy fix: Winner of the Third Place match gets automatic qualification to the next World Cup. Problem solved, you're welcome FIFA.
