Bad luck would be accidentally tripping someone and getting sent off. This was just stupid.

If every dive and roll was a yellow, I’d be less cynical. As it is it looks like the Messi Effect.

Gotta love people who think diving is wonderful and players should be allowed to pull shirts and stomp on players to win the ball.

Give it a ********ing rest Donovan and Darke. 100% legit, good of the game, cause for celebration.

And it’s Embolo lol, he’s a tank, only guy more ridiculous would be Haaland diving and rolling around.

    Divers get ********ed.

They just kept violating the rule of keeping it to one touch in the box. Much like Ivory Coast against Germany, when you play world class teams, you can't afford to take multiple touches in front of goal, when you have the opening, you've got to one time it period to beat their defenders. They might have the lead right now down a man if they had done that, now they're just screwed.

You mean the Swiss? Because it’s not the ref’s fault Embolo dove and got busted for it.

This is great. Now no one else will dive this game at least.

The dive was embarrassing , that’s the kind of thing people rightly laugh at soccer for.

The invention of Red Cards wasn't intended for random dives in the middle of the soccer field. That's the issue. And yes, I know it's a double issue. I don't like the diving either, but it's absurd that somebody is flat out sent off for that if it's got nothing to do with the box and penalties in particular.

Right before VAR correctly told him to take it back because it was a bad card.

Eh, the game has been reffed very favorably for Argentina just like previous games. Other teams don’t get the games called like this consistently for them.

That's the sad thing. England are in the semifinals based on horse ---- too. Both of these teams are basically being carried through so we can have an ultimate final four based on traditional NBA style reffing (more subtle usually than obvious rigging lol).

Both his cards were 100% legit. You get two cards you go home. No one to blame here but Embolo. He was actively and unjustly trying to get another player a card.

    Defenfing that is completely insane.

The ref isn’t the one who dove and rolled while already on a yellow. That’s on Embolo, not some conspiracy.

    Don't dive.

I have to ref U16 boys where they are clearly looking to embellish and fool us, and anything that deters youth soccer from doing this crap makes my job easier.

They don't need to. Embolo is managing that all on his own.

Here is a clue: Stop diving.

I find it impossible to believe any fan of this sport finds it a bad thing that divers are punished for real.

"They called it offside AFTER Messi had it saved to make it look like they make bad calls that go against Argentina too."

It is kind of astonishing that players are still continuing to indulge all manner of nonsense to get calls when you have VAR crews, that at least when they're not asleep during the Norway-England game, or pulled straight out Paleolithic Early Hominid timeline to ref these matches, they will catch you because the cameras will catch it 49 times out of 50. Like the best Embolo could hope for there was it would be ignored, wtf was he thinking? Just working along the old rules I guess.
