Putting July 19 on my calendar right now.

 

The MLS season will have its last game before the World Cup on May 24th. That puts us at potentially closer to 3 weeks of camp before the first game at least for MLS players. Of course, that would mean starting immediately.

I haven't seen the US Soccer announcement yet, but Portugal and Belgium have officially announced the March 2026 friendlies against the USA.

A guy on twitter is claiming Soldier Field in Chicago jumped the gun and announced that the USMNT will play Germany on June 6th.
So we may have a specific date for that match now:

Might be time to re-assemble the BS All-Stars for the Charlotte match - count me in!

 

What would be amazing is that each of the matches next year were only $20 admissions. This would give lots of people who can not afford the insane WC prices a chance to see the US. Not going to happen, but it would be great. Full stadia, passionate crowd, lots of money on concessions.

 

The TBD friendly is being marketed under the "Continental Clásico" brand meaning it will be against a team from the Americas, and since the opponent hasn't been revealed yet, it is safe to assume USSF has a tentative agreement with a non-Pot 1 CONMEBOL team and is waiting until the draw is complete to confirm the fixture. My guess is that the tentative opponent is Colombia, the only qualified non-Pot 1 CONMEBOL team we have yet to face under Poch.

The September or October friendly match vs Chile has been confirmed and signed off on. It's still not clear if it will be in the USA or in Mexico.

The final of the World Cup is Sunday, July 19th. So the day after the final, the Monday, they will publish the updated rankings, and we will likely get a draw on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think the USA could maybe still drop to 5th if Costa Rica plays and wins two friendlies in June and the USA lose all 5 of their upcoming matches, given that the K-value of World Cup games is so high; however, that seems very unlikely. It depends if the March 31st CONCACAF rankings include the Tuesday games or not. I guess we will need to see what the rankings are at the end of April.
