My son was watching on Paramount and was at least 30 seconds ahead so not sure what was going on but it was bad. At least the Fire won but seems like body language was Puso did something maybe not too mature.
Almost bottled and against a better quality opponent it would have been. Hard to run out a bunch of guys who weren't match sharp and expect consistent quality throughout. Survive and advance.
Sounds like a big fish story, but couldn’t agree more…and it had lingering impact on the season that is even harder to prove than the size of the fish x years ago.
I went back and watched the pixelated play and it’s hard to tell what happens, but seems like Puso might’ve lashed out at a DCFC guy. Det guy went down easily, but you can see Puso’s arm extended. I dunno. Let’s see what the report says.
According to witnesses Puso got a high elbow in while in a duel. Puso was ass tonight & won't be missed in the next round.
That was the only time I've ever felt that it'd be justified to throw a beer bottle at the ref. But he was too far away and the can was too full and I didn't wanna waste it.
Maybe I missed it but I did not see much out of Poreba. Dean got beat quite a bit , considering his experience.
All things considered: Pretty gnar, but here we are. Shook is proving me right when I said I wanted to see him playing a lot more. Poreba was okay. The stream was too trash for me to have a real opinion on Puso (also wasn't fully paying attention most of the time. Most of the first half I was teaching).
I do enjoy me some Tulsa and would recommend Leon's Smoke Shack as it's the real deal. Of course there's the Cain's Ballroom where both Bob Wills and the Sex Pistols played and of course the Woody Guthrie museum and lots of Art Deco architecture. But also one must remember the Tulsa massacre when a bunch of dumb white racists decided to eliminate people because of the color of their skin so that's a dark cloud hovering. Home to Charlie Christian, Earl Bostic and Barney Kessel. So maybe Tulsa can win over St. Louis?
This is the moment the red card was called. Terrible resolution, I know, but Dithejane turns around after a change of possession and runs into a Detroit player he didn't even know was there, knocking him flat. Pete (doesn't know why that was a red card, but that's when it happened)
His arm is extended after that clip too. The fact that Fire players don’t protest or console Dithejane suggests they knew it was a red.
Houston should have no problem with ELP. There is only one of them still alive. Palmer is still great on his runs though.
Not so sure I agree with call. Limited video I have seen does not indicate a high elbow or strike by Poreba. Looks to me like his arm was raised to facilitate his run past the player. A yellow maybe, not a red.
Even the Fire's match recap just says he received a red with no explanation. I guess no one knows (or cares?).
From Detroit (not) City FC's recap: In the 78th minute, Yamazaki drove down the right side of the field and played a cross into Darren Smith, whose right footed shot put the ball in the back of the net and put Detroit on the board. Directly after the goal, Chicago’s Puso Dithejane was shown a direct red card after a rough challenge on Yamazaki in the 80th minute. The goal and red card led to another Chicago change, as Jason Shokalook came off for Dylan Borso in the 83th minute. Shortly after the changes, Joel Waterman was shown a yellow card after a challenge on Chisom Egbuchulam. https://www.detcityfc.com/news/2026...ard-fought-2-1-loss-to-mls-side-chicago-fire/ Not much detail there, either.
In Joe Chatz post game update he indicated he heard second hand that it was 'hands to face', and this video makes it look like he went for a 'swim move'. This is the only angle the broadcast showed for the Puso Dithejane red card. I zoomed it in a bit but it's still hard to tell what exactly happened when the players came together #cf97 https://t.co/pUbN2LLu6Q pic.twitter.com/Bn3Es2K3RG— Colin (@ufcolin) April 15, 2026 Not exactly a 'flagrant foul', but there are a quantity of refs calling 'hands to the face' strictly.
I thought Detroit were going down VERY softly because they WERE getting the calls. It continued and was not called equally by my recollection. I have no statistics to back that up other than the eye test but the fact there was no PENO on Mbokazi's tackle I am willing to forgive and forget.
