I'm still salty we never got another crack at the ATX Pro Challenge and this bad boy is lost somewhere in the wretched halls of DC.
Tickets got a little more expensive, but that shouldn't make too much of a difference. I mentioned to my buddy at the Knoxville game that even if tickets were free, I'm not sure if more than a dozen extra people would have showed up. So similarly, an increase in prices probably won't affect the crowd size too much, it's still way cheaper than a normal Crew game. And with the extra $$$, maybe they can hire a few extra folks so the lines aren't so long.
Not having been to the AEP gate in some time, I assume tickets are still scanned before security or did they flip that to match the west entries and every other place?
That shot Knoxville missed off the post in the 55m was huge i fell asleep at halftime just now watching second half
Bangoura with a beautiful pass to Adams which he scuffs then Taha on counter press attack sets him up for his first I love it! We have a lot of talented youngsters
We should have an advantage at home and what kind of line up will both teams send out? They have a derby match before we play and we have a game at Philly. I think we need to rotate and put all our eggs in the open cup basket and de prioritize the regular season match up.
IT BACK Tuesday, May 19 Orlando City SC vs. Atlanta United FC – 7:30 p.m. ET St. Louis CITY SC vs. Houston Dynamo FC – 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, May 20 Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC – 7:30 p.m. ET Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes – 10 p.m. ET All matches are available on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network/Golazo. Better yet, head down to the SMG and cheer on your favorite Yellow Soccer Team in person. As a reminder, Crew have hosting priority the rest of the way, so uh... don't ******** this up.
We were treated to some goals and drama last night. Orlando absolutely trucked Atlanta, bagging four goals in the first half. Atlanta got a consolation goal late in the second, but I don't think Tata will care much. The St. Louis-Houston match was a fun watch and had a little bit of everything: an (former Crew legend) Artur golazo, a hilarious Burki blunder, a "what-the-hell-were-your-thinking" penalty, a baby soft (double yellow) red, heroics from a backup keeper, and an saved Hache Hache PK. You should watch the highlights. THE CUP IS GOOD, YOU GUYS
F the front office. $24 Nordecke tickets with a $5 processing fee for the next Open Cup game in September. All STM are opted in automatically, you must opt out for which I did. They could have had cheap tickets and packed the place, but instead there will be 5K there at most.
First off, the FO does not set the processing fee for matches. That is Ticketbastard. $1.50 for the last USOC, $5 for this one. Funny how they got hardercto process, huh? And I'd bet USOC has a hand in pricing after a certain round as well. As for the match price, it went from $11 to $16. This one was always gonna be higher. What did you expect? Cheaper SF than QF? And FWIW, it was hardly packed at either price point. As for STM being opted in automatically, that has been the both the playoffs and Leagues Cup norm for years. Again, what did you expect? I guess we have not been this deep in USOC in 15 years, and the previous 2 rounds were manual, so it was not crazy to think that would continue. But the opted in thing cannot be that surprising either. And I'd bet the actuarial tables tell them they will sell more tickets and make more money doing it this way. That's why they do it this way.
USSF gets a solid chunk of the ticket revenue which these days goes toward supporting youth development.
Asking me to buy $10 or $15 GA early round tickets feels a lot different to opting me in to 4 $54 tickets semi final tickets in my season ticket seats. Especially when the GA tickets were basically where my season tickets are.
