Man would be so good to steal 3 points at their house

Always a tough place to play for us but we did get a point there last time.

Just have to play smart and not give them any easy chances off set piece plays or penalties.

Most interested to see if Lorenzo will start Uribe since Lerma is out. Or if he will go with either Castaño or throw Portilla in the fire for his very first start.

I've read Puerta would be called up which would be a surprise to me

According to Colombian media Uruguay may be without two of their best players against us due to injury. Gimenez and Valverde both have missed recent trainings at their clubs due to injury.

Could be exaggerating and thinking the worst when pertaining to the extent of their injuries but there may be something to it.
Those would be key losses to a team that already has had some depth problems.

I would not mind seeing Duran get his first official road start but in a place like Uruguay with the sorta antics they will probably try...
... I doubt it will happen.

It would have to be against Ecuador because Jhon is suspended (yellows).

Uribe???? nah. Even if he is pro-Uribe he still needs a bit of a heavy foot/enforcer in MF and with Rios as your "8" he's not going to have Uribe play man to man. We're playing Uruguay for heavens sake!

Time for Borre to step up

Don't feel very optimistic about this game as I did last month. Too many injuries or players in poor form. It shall be interesting to see who he calls up. I don't support him calling puerta at all at this point. In that case Monsalve or someone else.

I don't think he scouts......or even looks at how players are doing thats why he called up Ospina and Montero.

Without Lerma we really do not have a physical enforcer so I think he just goes with experience. Maybe Castaño? But he has not played much this year for Colombia and is not that physically imposing.

called not scouting and just picking who he remembers from his time with Pekerman. I mean just super super lazy. Hire more people to watch the league.

I hope it is Castano - Rios and not Uribe - Rios.

Also isnt Gomez in 2nd division Brazil?

Please no Uribe, Castano would be better and has performed well for us, Uribe isn't a 6 and always struggles there for us.

don't call me crazy, but since Lorenzo doesnt mind the Russian league why was Barrios not considered? Just looked at his stats and Zenit is top 4 in the league and he's been pretty much the starter all season at DFM as the enforcer.

IMO - Barrios has been frozen out for the same reasons that Pekerman froze out Guarin in 2012/13. Pekerman found a winning formula with guys like Macnelly, Aldo, Roca, Abel and Edwin. By the time 14 World Cup came, only roca, Abel were around and Gaurin had to be on the list

Imo - we all liked Barrios and felt he was a saving grace for us last cycle with his defensive prowess, but maybe bc of the fact he was pure defense has hurt his cause with Nestor. And the fact that we have only lost two games in the past couple years signals we don’t need barrios. I personally think we could benefit from Barrios - especially when we need to hold a lead

Barrios never really looked good in the minutes he played under Lorenzo.

Well, he looked great against Mexico in our come back friendly win but other than that he was pretty poor.

we have seen other players give far worse performances and still get multiple chances - Uribe is the first name that comes to mind here.

Nestor was under Pekerman between 12-19; so he knows what Barrios is capable of.

I feel this is one of those situations where something off camera must have gone down

It's clear as to why he hasn't been back

He favors players that are capable in both roles, defending and attacking. Or number 8's

Only person that gets a pass is James

Uribe sucks at everything but he is also meant to be an 8

Uribe is just past his prime. And all I mean is that Barrios is the closest thing to Lerma's physicality at the ball. Uruguay is going to be physical.

Ironically the last time Barrios started was against Uruguay in Qualifying and they really made him look bad on the press. In Montevideo it would probably be much worse.
