    Game Day.

Hopefully this team shows some killer instinct. Chile is on a respirator for their playoff chances. We need to step on their throats and put them away.

That said, Gareca has done well against us for the most part so we must be efficient and bury our chances. If we waist a bunch like we did in El Alto then it may be a long day.

You guys are oddly quiet today

Colombia Chile games are usually real entertaining. I might be wrong but I think Chile will be one of the teams to completely miss the world cup alongside Peru

hope Cucho gets minutes either as James Sub or Duran’s.

this odd obsession with him and Borre being wingers is super odd

Since January 2023 I have been baffled as to why he strictly views Cucho as a LW option. It is a bit frustrating.

Santos Borre I can see why he is put out in the wings. I saw it starting against Germany when he was hustling on the wings against them to help Diaz in attack and for pressing. Then in the Uruguay match in Barranquilla it really did confuse their CBs defensively and helped us open things wide open.

it’s just funny to me that everyone else but Sini gets put out in the LW role….

Cucho, Borre, Miguel Borja….but not the player who actually plays there….

    I guess that’s why I’ll never be a coach…

Sini played LW against Uruguay in the Copa if I remember correctly. And did a good job.

I know people are going to say I am too harsh on the guy but let me preface this by saying I like him and hist style of play.

    BUT.
There is probably good reason we do not see Sini get many minutes for both Colombia and for his Club in England.

We are experts at giving new life to teams that are down and out/left for dead. I do worry that the post Copa hangover is still hitting this team because we've been playing subpar futbol for the last 3 games. This is specially the case when Munoz isnt playing in that right flank. Every player has gone down a notch in their intensity to even get the ball back once it's no longer in possession.

Lorenzo needs to stop experimenting at this point and put the best 11 on the field to start and then make subs that will close out the game. Chile is going to be super intense in the 1st 20 or so but we have to also feed off that intensity and bring the game to their half.

im fine with that as long as a clear #9 is on the field

making your #9 play lw or Rw with no one to cross the ball too is a huge issue

it’s why 98% of us all hate Borre. He does suck at finishing but he being asked to play Bolillo ball. Which is why many people hated every striker prior to falcao under pekerman

they were all expected to win the ball in midfield then beat 6 guys off their speed then still have enough stamina to beat the keeper and shoot the ball

The thing is we still do not know who the best 11 is. I think that is why he keeps on experimenting cause it seems like most positions are still up for grabs due to inconsistency or injuries.

I kinda hope Chile plays intense from the get go. Their old players will be so tired by the second half our youngsters should make them pay.

We know the best 11 or pretty close to it. Uribe has no reason to be on the team. And even having Ditta start last match could have been avoided. I am just seeing a lot of running around but we've lost a ton of cohesion. Arias and Rios seem to be absent from play and we're just relying on the same set pieces which teams have started to figure out. Diaz is playing 1 v 11 and we've become very James dependent again. The team just looks very disjointed lately and it shouldnt be the case. If we can't beat Chile today playing our best soccer than we have have a ton to be worried about.

Some of you talk as if we were out of the qualifying positions and coming out of lopsided loses.

Do you know what team has been playing incredibly after Copa America? Bolivia with 9 out of 9 points. After them, Brazil with 6 points, then Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru with 4 points.

I understand that there are some concerns, but playing in El Alto was extremely difficult and if it wasn't for very punctual mistakes, we could have won that game, or at least tied it.

I'm optimistic about today's game, considering that Chile is struggling at the bottom of the table, and some of our key players rested for over a week.

I am no Uribe fan and did not want to see Ditta but I can understand at least why Lorenzo experimented. Going from High altitude to the heat of Barranquilla forced us to play two different teams with only a few core players available for both.

Really the only question is who's playing striker, nobody has really made the position their own, especially when they are being pushed to play wide right. Other than that I think the lineup should be pretty straightforward today, maybe 9 and one who partners lucumi are not set, but I expect the lineup with Mina and Duran to probably be correct.

We'll make the WC. Not concerned about the points. But we have definitely dropped in team play and not one player is marking a difference. These downturns eventually hit every team but it's not something to just ignore. We played poorly vs Peru and a 10 men Bolivia, 2 teams that on paper should still have been the easier wins. Today's play will be telling and hope that I'm completely wrong.
