MLS has seen a 10% turnover in coaches resigning/fired through 7 matchdays. Who might be on the hot seat this weekend? Of the 15 games for Matchday 8, two of them feature MLS original clubs going at one another.

Vancouver vs. Kansas City
Sporting KC lead the series, 14-12 with 5 draws.

Toronto vs. Austin
The series is tied, 1-1 with no draws.

Montreal vs. New York Red Bulls
Red Bulls lead Club Foot, 16-14 with 5 draws.

Colorado vs. Miami
These teams have met only once, and it was a draw.

New England vs. Columbus
The Crew hold the advantage over the Revolution, 43-29 with 21 draws.

New York City vs. Charlotte
The Crown lead this series, 6-4 with 1 draw.

Philadelphia vs. DC United
The Union lead DC, 25-12 with 7 draws.

Orlando vs. Houston
The Lions lead the Dynamo, 3-2 with 2 draws.

Atlanta vs. Nashville
Coyotes hold a 5-4 lead over AUFC, with 5 draws.

Cincinnati vs. Chicago
FCC has 'regulated' the Fire, 7-4 with 4 draws.

Minnesota vs. Portland
The Loons are ahead of the Timbers, 10-5 with 4 draws.

Dallas vs. Los Angeles Galaxy
The Galaxy lead FC Dallas, 43-40 with 13 draws. This is the most-played series this weekend.

Real Salt Lake vs. San Diego
The series is tied through 3 matches, 1-1-1.

Seattle vs. St. Louis
Sounders are on top of CITY, 6-1 with no draws.

Los Angeles FC vs. San Jose
LAFC lead the Quakes, 14-7 with 1 draw.

That's a hell of a save from Pulskamp (on the near own goal) to keep it to 3.

 

We are being disappointed.

No disrespect to Nashville or LAFC, but I’d feel better about MLS’ chance to win the CCL if Vancouver was in it. Once they got their game going, they had a tremendous killer instinct. They went for the throat ruthlessly.

 

Thomas Muller has proved to be a fantastic acquisition for Vancouver. He is not just an excellent individual player. He lifts the performance of his teammates.

The entire top of the Western Conference is scary. Those owners, sporting directors, scouting staff, and coaches are building Starting XIs and depth. What they are doing obviously is working in the MLS. This seems to be stronger than just a one-off event. They are getting more for their money than other teams. What they are seeing and doing that others aren't seeing and doing would seem to be important for the rest of the league.

Don't miss what Seattle is doing. Today is only their second home match of the season. Seattle has a dominant defense, with four consecutive clean sheets, all on the road. They also have a clean sheet in their only home match. They don’t score many goals, but just four goals have yielded three wins. Seattle is a notoriously slow-starting team, and a 4-1-1 start with 5 of 6 on the road should send alarm bells through the Western Conference.
