Today's 14-game matchday schedule just broke the season high of 56 matchday goals that was set on the 15 matches of Matchday 8.

I got home, turned Sounders on.

I look at the score bug on MLS website and all I see is lots of goals.

 

Final tally shows 58 goals on the night. Great news for fans who like seeing compelling scorelines. Not so great news for the keepers who are looking to make their national team World Cup rosters?

 

Matchday 13: 4.14 goals per game (Home 31-27 Away). The 31 home goals is right about the matchday average of 29. The 27 away goals is a season high, breaking the Matchday 8 record of 25.
Season to date, 3.28 goals per game (Home 1.94-1.34 Away).

I'll wait for the usual suspects to drift into the chat from their lofty heights and explain why watching 1-0 home bus parking and hard-fought perma nil-nils on the road is somehow "better" soccer. This week was wild and entertaining. MLS has a good product. They need to step up and preserve the Whitecaps in Vancouver and let this league continue to develop. That is all.
