Given the time of year, it ain’t gonna be anywhere hot. With I think 4 teams in Kansas City or Lawrence, KC is your best bet, statistically. I don’t know what summers are like in Kansas so I may have just contradicted myself. I am large; I contain multitudes. Are any teams based in NoCal? My sense is that foreigners don’t know San Francisco/the Bay Area very much, so that’s another of my guesses. There are many reason housing prices there are insane, but one of them is more people want to live there than there is housing, which means it’s a great place to live.
Europeans generally like Boston. A compact city with everything to do in a small area that has lots of public transportation. Lots to do. Weather won't be hot. Should be really nice here. With Scotland playing here twice, it's going to be a heck of a good time. England and France are also playing here. I could see some Euros saying "hey, this place is pretty nice." The flight to/from Boston to Europe is much shorter than California. [Its like how many of the Asian baseball players end up playing for the West coast teams.] I'm really curious to see how the city can evolve as a "soccer city" if and when the new Revs stadium is built. I don't think the "Euro stars" are going to be impressed by Gilette, which is very much an NFL stadium. There hasn't really been any recent news on that [Which is what New Englanders have been saying for 20 years.]. Of course, I thought there was nuclear explosion here yesterday. Boy, I do as I grew up there. Very humid in the summer. If it's a hot streak it may actually feel hotter than Dallas even with a lower temperature - kind of like Houston or DC if it's 90+. Arrowhead is also not air conditioned so it and Miami may be the hottest games. Atlanta, DFW and Houston all have retractable roofs. You bet they will all be closed.
With the absolute dearth of forwards and demand for them in. Europe…….if Sarg wasn’t hell bent on coming home I could have seen him in Italy this year. but gets me thinking, are there any forwards in MLS currently that could bust a move? Farringtton? any possibilities like the “olden days” where an wider statesman like White or Judd could get picked up? We haven’t had a McBride story in a minute. Can’t remember the last time a 27, 28 year old got picked up by a European club
I don't really see it in this window in terms of center forwards. If somebody wants to pay a lot of money for Julian Hall, maybe RBNY would sell. I just don't see it in this window. I see it more likely that FCD will sell Musa; turning the forward position over to Farrington.
Not this year, but possibly in the next 1-2 years Malik Jakupovic will get sold to someone on the old continent for good sum of money.
It is.................Dallas is going to double their money on Musa. I saw a list a few years ago that suggested Dallas was one of the very few clubs in MLS that has a net positive transfer ledger. There were only two or three clubs at the time. They've been a selling club, with both their domestic and foreign players, for quite some time. I think it was Dallas and Philadelplhia.................and a third relatively new team that hadn't actually spent all that much on transfers. Minnesota?
I could see RBNY /MetroStars in this club. They don't spend a lot on buys and have some good young players that left (were sold?) young.
Its probably changed since I read this article....... ...............at the time it was Philadelphia, Dallas, and somebody like Minnesota. Cuz Minnesota didn't do a lot either way. [The whole thing is a little misleading because MLS clubs trade assets in different ways like intraleague trades, etc.[ RBNY sold value, but not for a lot of money. Tyler Adams didn't garner the transfer fee he should have as he was being passed from the left hand to the right hand of the Red Bull organization. After Altidore and Miazga, sales for them drop precipitously. Tim Howard, Tim Ream, Adams, Tolkin, etc. didn't actually sell for a lot. None of them went for as much as Dallas sale of Carlos Gruezo to Augsburg. As we know, a lot of that has to do with factor such as years left on contracts, etc. For a while I think it was Atlanta and Vancouver that hovered around a net positive balance. Atlanta got tons of mons for players like Almiron, Almada, etc. But they also spend a lot, so they balance out. Sometimes positive and sometimes negative. I think Vancouver's Davies bump finally was burned off..................
