Im not sure a single person here wants Issa to stay. But it is fair to say that HR hasn't made the best of the poor hand he has been dealt. The press really should be better by now, and the substitutions/2nd half adjustments have been questionable.
IMO, Rydstrom actions (or non-actions) and quotes reflect a guy told that he has multiple years to implement his system/get his guys/leam MLS/whatever. This isn't the season for the Crew to miss the playoffs.
I'm fine missing the playoffs this year if we give guys like Adams, Brown, whoever else from Crew 2, and Bangoura big minutes.
Given our current situation, I completely agree with you. Unless we work some magic in the summer window, this season should be viewed as prep for the next. My initial comment was just to indicate that ,as a bare minimum, the Crew should be making the playoffs every season.
ISTM - many will disagree - that pretty much all of it points back to Issa Tall. The job is not just to sit in your office picking your nose and then go find replacements when someone ages out or gets sold. It's looking two, three, five years down the road. Planning change, managing it, anticipating it, using it to your advantage. Even here on BS our motley collection of cranks, drunks and ne'er do wells was saying 2 even 3 year's ago that the club needed to be looking at the painful changes that were going.to.be necessary when the glory started to fade. But over on Nationwide Blvd we saw no.sign that anyone thought any such thing. And the.thing that Bez was best at, the reason for.his success here, is his ability to recruit. Sweet talk. Sell. Schmooze. Its not all about making big money. offers. Any half decent player has an agent that can rustle up.offers. Now we hear of a long list of players who we took a swing at but couldnt land, and everyone around here responds by blaming Jimmy for not being willing to cough up enough money. And Im sick as hell of hearing it. Its about more than money, and Issa Tall couldnt sell a piece of ass on a troop ship or get a bj in a womens prison with a pocket full of pardons. Issa is just the wrong guy and nothing is going to change until Cleveland figures that out.
Issa has always been the biggest problem. I was called many things in July 2024 for saying that the lack of summer signings was going to kill our chances of winning more trophies. I've wanted him gone for well over a year.
Two of the universal rules of all sports are to move your feet and keep your eyes on the ball. If you don't do these things, you'll be out of position, miss the pass or you're just gonna feel stupid. If you don't move your feet, you'll be looking at the last name on the opposing player's jersey. This is a classic textbook case of Issa not moving his feet while the competition moves past. We saw similar from 2002-2005 with the 2003 and 2005 teams missing the playoffs.
So the aforementioned Seannie z needs to get his ass in gear and get the pussies to play, then, according to y'all. Players "not buying what the coach is selling" reflects on the players. They have a ********ing job to do. Go out there and do it. The problem still remains, WE DON'T HAVE THE TALENT TO COMPETE. There is only so far we can get without the level of talent we had before. Until we get an actual midfield boss, we are going to suffer. That is what I thought Z-wad was gonna end up doing, but he's back on defense now. Something we should be able to sign someone for.
That's a HUGE part of being a center back ,IDK if anyone has told you that or not before. And we wonder why we are giving up set piece goals. Metrics, schmetrics, they don't mean ********-all if the team isn't winning. Something is rotten here, and as the captain, he should be sussing it out.
He is a inexperienced CB i think with better positioning and understanding he can improve his weakness but he damn sure shouldn’t be Captain and if they voted him Captain it just means a lot of our bad players made a bad choice voting for him. Great kid who is level headed but that alone should not elevate you to Captain. Just seems to me we had a lack of quality candidates to be Captain.
We did it in 2016 and 2024 both times we ran it back and did not search for better talent to upgrade the roster while other teams did.
College sports are a different beast because of the constant turnover (the transfer portal doesn't help), but part of the reason why those top-tier teams are so good? They're constantly recruiting HS juniors. In an extreme case of ridiculousness, wasn't it USC which recruited the fifth grader? Some coaches are probably already thinking about the 2028-29 season.
