Great finish by Reyna, but Paraguay didn't even bother closing him down, they had just given up.

Overall, obviously really good performance for the US, much better than I expected. The early goal really helps guys to relax and get confident.

Dest was really good as I knew he would be. Balogun, excellent, Jedi, excellent, Ream, Freeman, and Richards - excellent. Pulisic - excellent. There was a lot of praise for Tillman on the broadcast but he frustrated me with I guess you could say being "overly composed" in the box. There must have been 3 or 4 times I was begging for him to shoot and he wouldn't do it. He'd just hold the ball and try to pick out a pass and the window closed. One pass too many. And then one great chance he had, I think again he took too long to act (IIRC).

Berhalter was good in his limited minutes. I know Gio got the goal but as is usually the case with him he's kind of lackadaisical out there. Very talented but lackadaisical. I'd have loved to see Luna come into that game and just boss it.

One small Quakes connection in the Haiti squad playing Scotland tonight. Haiti's fullback Duke Lacroix played for Reno 1868 in 2018-19. I remember him making an appearance for the Quakes in one of those friendlies against a visiting international team, and I thought maybe the Quakes should sign him. That was probably during the Stahre season. He now plays for Colorado Springs in USL.

I was at Heathrow airport yesterday flying home from our Greek/Turkey/London vacation. There were a TON of Scottish fans in their National team shirts and kilts, taking tons of photos with their flag. It was really cool to see.

And unlike the friendlies/exhibitions played there in recent months, the playing field lines today seem to finally have been marked to take advantage of the newly-widened playing field.

That bodes very well for the upcoming San Jose Earthquakes - Los Angeles FC home game on September 19th.

Qatar playing very disciplined defense. They will be hard to break down, and Switzerland have created a lot of chances.

This is admittedly an uncomfortable feeling for me. It is making me reconsider @markmcf8 point of view.

    Thanks!

I get rooting for one team exclusively, but it’s the cup! At least in the group rounds we can root for other teams. And a good chance that Our guys don’t lift the Cup. So I root for other teams too.

    Go Humans!!
