The ref doesn’t appear to have any cards in his pocket.

    Goal Korea!!!

They have squandered a bunch of chances. And their keeper isn’t very good.

Man, Czechia played S. Korea really tough. They're a bit unlucky not to get anything from the game. It went from barely offside 2-1 Czechia (S. Korea on the brink of disaster) to 2-1 S. Korea very quickly.

Infantino looked worried that S. Korea wasn't winning, kind of chewing on his fingernails. He wants the S. Korean fans totally engaged, and S. Korean $.

A decent ref would have shown Czechia at least a couple of yellow cards early, which would have changed the complexion of the game.

That said, Czechia played Korea tough. it was close. Korea squandered a bunch of chances. They didn’t show much urgency until after Czechia’s second goal was called back. A good, and correct call, I might add.

    Go Fans!!

Czechs played cynically and banked on shutting the door right after their goal.

Their captain scored a nice header and then failed to make (or even attempt) a Reid Roberts defensive clearance on the Koreans' first goal.

Felt like the Czechs were disciplined but not terribly athletic. Don't see them getting a result against Mexico.

I thought that Korea were better organized and disciplined than Czechia. Czechia of course have plenty of talent and should have focused on getting head balks into the box.

The Czechs fouled a ton! A lot of pushing players in the back. Not cool. Very cynical and negative.

And the ref let way too many fouls go. An early, judicious yellow card and a warning or two could have made the game a lot more watchable.

    Go fans!!

I had low expectations for Czechia (ranked 34th or so, hadn't been in WC for 20 years or so), so I was impressed with their performance based on those low expectations.

Under my breath I let out an "uh oh" when Czechia subbed out their 2 best attacking players (and 1 other) at 60'. Too early for that. I thought Czechia used their size advantage well. Lots of shoulder charges and very dangerous on set pieces. By the end S. Korea was really nervous on set pieces, just waiting for something bad to happen again and it almost did. At this point it's almost a given that Mexico and S. Korea will go through. I don't think S. Africa will win any games. Czechia has to beat Mexico and hope that Mexico beats S. Korea. I think Mexico will probably win the group but S. Korea-Mexico will be a competitive match.

Asked a South Korean fan last night at the viewing party if he was planning to see Son at Levi’s in September. Said he already saw him last year. Anecdotal evidence these superstar signings have a half life.

Opinions on what the San Pedro square experience will be like for the US game? I'm just wondering if it's too rowdy for my 7 year old.

I’d be surprised if it got rowdy. I’ve never seen anything get rowdy at San Pedro. It’s pretty chill.

Likely to be very crowded. If you’re a season ticketholder and get there early you can grab a seat at one of the venues. I was in Funk (next to O’Flaherty’s) last night. Saw a kid about that age.

Getting there early and grabbing an air conditioned seat is key.

    Gaaaaah!

We need for all of the CONCACAF countries to do well.

Canada have had most of the possession and most of the chances, but can’t finish to save their lives. You gotta wonder if St. Clair would have saved that goal?

OK, another full half to go. Come on, Canada!!
