I apologize if this has already been posted (too lazy to ready all of the pages on this thread), but this site has a downloadable World Cup match calendar (multiple calendar formats including Google and iCal) that automatically updates throughout the tournament. I use this same site for my Quakes and Arsenal calendars.

Why do their scarves say “San Fransisco?!”

Some years back, I had the misfortune to be in SFO when Stuporbowl fans were showing up. The airport had at least half a dozen people intercepting lots of idiots and telling them the Stuporbowl is fifty miles south of here. Can we not learn from stupid mistakes? The World Cup games are Not in SF! They are in Santa Clara. Saying San José kind of works too.

    Pathetic!

    Go Quakesfans!!

Actually, they say “San Francisco”. ;)

Those visiting fans’ confusion likely occurred when those interceptors were telling them about a Stuporbowl when those fans were in fact looking for a Super Bowl.

If it’s any consolation, there was only one giant soccer ball made per World Cup host city… and the Bay Area’s is on display in San Pedro Square in San José, not in SF.

Istanbul was pretty mello... the only issue were the local young women being rude to my Wife and Daughter more than a few times and the men scaring my Daughter with how aggressive they were. I highly recommend Kusadasi however... really cool history, it's really, really beautiful and everyone was friendly.

Yeah, I was sure I got that wrong, but there’s a Turkish spelling. So Kapadokya is the correct local spelling, and it’s pronounced a little differently.

The Britannia Arms in downtown San Jose has been hosting soccer watch parties for years. Here, fans celebrate at a Women’s World Cup gathering on the patio. (Josie Lepe/Bay Area News Group archives)

Today’s the day: FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Day! [IMG]

Don’t forget that the Mexico portion of the Opening Ceremony begins at 10:30am PDT today, about 90 minutes before kickoff between Mexico vs. South Africa, whereas the Canada portion begins tomorrow at 10:30am PDT (90 minutes prior to Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the U.S. portion begins tomorrow at 4:30pm PDT (90 minutes prior to U.S. vs. Paraguay).

Also, what will your World Cup Opening Day meal consist of? :)
