Just wondering, please don't take offense by this, but back in the good old days of 32-team World Cups, as you know South American qualifying was quite a ride with only 4 teams qualifying automatically and the 5th place team making the playoffs. The bottom 5 would not make the World Cup. Now with the expanded WC, there's 6.5 places up for grabs with only the bottom 3 being eliminated. Do you think this will make Conmebol qualifying somewhat anticlimactic? I'm just worried you may have some teams qualify too early and sleepwalk their way through the latter games. Maybe combine this with some sort of nations league tournament, say the top 4 qualify for or a trophy for winning the group might keep them all with something to play for till the end. Anyway, we'll see how it goes obviously...
Argentina keeping their world champions streak, the game in La Paz without Messi was impressive. Everyone played great. Scaloni is truly one of a kind dt with how much he achieved over the last couple of years, and Argentina have been playing for a long time now some of the most beautiful futbol i ve ever seen.
Does anyone here know why all the tables (FIFA, WIKI, ESPN, Soccerway) have Ecuador 9th with zero points despite beating Uruguay 2-1? https://www.espn.com/soccer/table/_/league/fifa.worldq.conmebol Did they receive a points penalty or something?
They got deducted 3 points for falsifying Byron Castillo's birth documents during the last WC qualifying cycle.
Not at all. See the standings of previous editions: 2010 * 4. Argentina, 28 pts * 5. Uruguay, 24 * 6. Ecuador, 23 * 7. Colombia 23 * 8. Venezuela, 22 2014 * 4. Ecuador, 25 pts * 5. Uruguay, 25 * 6. Venezuela, 20 * 7. Perú, 15 * 8. Bolivia, 12 2018 * 4. Colombia, 27 pts * 5. Perú, 26 * 6. Chile, 26 * 7. Paraguay, 24 * 8. Ecuador, 20 2022 * 4. Ecuador, 26 pts * 5. Perú, 24 * 6. Colombia, 23 * 7. Chile, 19 * 8. Paraguay, 16 Points gaps are small.
My prediction: Brazil and Argentina qualify 4 or 5 games before the end (range of 40+ points or close to it). Uruguay qualify 2 or 3 games before the end (30-35 pts range). Ecuador and Colombia will qualify before the final matchday (25-30 range). The rest battle it out until the last game (18-22 range for those that will finish in 6th and 7th). IMO the biggest difference with the previous cycle is that we'll see a strong Uruguay from start to finish. Thus, It'll be more difficult for the lower half teams to get points from them this time.
Would have been a great match to see if person. Also marked another chapter in the wasted career of Neymar.

Someone needs to pick up the tv/streaming rights for all of conmebol qualifiers for the rest of the way. This fanatiz ppv or fifa pluz is bullshit. Only Arg and Brasil on telemundo
A complete disgusting display in by host nations Peru and Brazil in November's qualifying. This is not a comment on the people of these countries, but the organizers of the games; the soccer federations, stadium police etc. In the Brazil-Argentina game, videos online show that the trouble started when Brazilian fans were trying to extend their banners into the Argentinean section and that started some of the problems. And when the police went into the scene, the police wasted no time attacking Argentina fans. In the Peru-Venezuela game, it is alleged that Peruvian police were detaining/stop Venezuelan fans trying to enter the stadium (allegedly using the excuse of checking for passports) and then the police trying to intimidate the Venezuelan players. There has to be a zero tolerance for this kind of stuff. I love shithousery and all that stuff, but we might have to put an end to even the most benign type of celebration b/c when it comes to us, too often it leads to ugly results.
Week 7 Thursday 5: Bolivia vs Venezuela Argentina vs Chile Friday 6: Uruguay vs Paraguay Brasil vs Ecuador Perú vs Colombia Week 8 (Tuesday 10) Colombia vs Argentina Chile vs Bolivia Ecuador vs Perú Venezuela vs Uruguay Paraguay vs Brasil
The El Alto stadium in Bolivia had temporary seats. And by that I mean some flat expanded polystyrene pieces. https://www.elheraldo.hn/fotogaleri...lto-eliminatoria-venezuela-IJ21283139#image-1
