Gotta win this one or it could come down to goal differential that we didn't score enough vs S Africa.

I also think Montes is overrated so I don't expect a big dropoff if we play Alvarez/Romo/Reyes in his place.

Edson's lack of rhythm is concerning, though.

    And style under Aguirre

he keeps ending up as the on ball / play creating midfielder and that’s not his traditional role. He did it all gold cup and it was super choppy and chaotic

What really sucks right now, is that based on our starters in first game, we have zero threat on free kicks. If he thinking Chavez, maybe that's why

Maybe, although Aguirre would probably prefer having one of his tallest guys ready for a header.

So who to take Montes’ spot, Edson or Romo? Or do we move Reyes to CB and have Jorge Sanchez start as RB?

I also think this would be the type of game where having Mateo Chavez start over Gallardo would be more ideal considering how much quicker he is than Gallardo

Some hopium about the possibility of Sanchez starting, remember when us old heads were terrified of Maza Rodriguez starting in the 2014WC? Then he did fine, Maybe..
