Solid win for Team USA; record for most goals scored in a World Cup! Little surprised by Paraguay. Thought they'd show better than they did.
It felt like Fox was trying to up the production value, but it’s been kind of just been pumping out the mnt and America
Fantastic game for the USA!! Was cheering for you guys I had my bet on a 2-1 game but you really surprised me. Enjoy it !!
What a ********ing game! I don't know if it was that these players were playing with a FULL stadium all cheering for them or what but this is the best I've seen USMNT play in a long time!
Just got back after a fairly long day watching the Canada game on Granville Street at noon, coming back home for a little bit and then going back again to watch the US match. Basically, on Granville Street are a lot of bars and restaurants and that street has been closed off downtown for people to wander around watch matches at various places that have temp outdoor seating along with soccer themed artwork up and down the street. Pretty good vibe and the weather was perfect. Canada should have done better, our lack of finishing has always been our Achilles heel at these types of tournaments. Hopefully our shooting boots are on when they come to BC Place. That was the best US match at the World Cup as far as dominance goes I've ever seen. I'm sure the old USMNT heads might know of better performances, but I can't think of any at the World Cup at least. Very impressed. The Turkey/Australia match tomorrow at BC Place starts at 9 pm. Granville St. going to be nuts tomorrow night. Can't wait to take in the atmosphere.
Seen them all since '94. The best game they've ever played (yes, better than Portugal) and most dominant performance in any match against significant competition (not counting 6-0 WCQ or Gold Cup wins over smaller nations) I can remember. From a dominance perspective the only other one that comes to mind is the WC '02 game against Mexico because we were in their heads from the opening whistle.
The only comparable for me is the 4-0 US Cup win over Mexico in 1995. Offensively at least, and one thing the two games share is a man named Reyna scored the fourth in each one.
I was thinking that I should go back and look at the 2009 Confederations Cup match against Spain. Different kind of opponent. Different kind of game. But if we're talking best performances, that game should be in the conversation.
