Algeria beat Bolivia 4-0. Somebody posted the watch along on YouTube. I’m not gonna watch it but I do wonder who Scaloni is going to delegate to watch the match and take notes.

 

The two players we have to watch out for are definitely Gouiri and Hadj Moussa, the wingers. They started from the bench in this friendly and scored 3 goals in 5 minutes, all from counters. The latter player will probably not start against us because Mahrez (finished player) is untouchable, but if the score is narrow with 20 minutes to go we''ll have to be careful of that guy.

 

True. However, most of the third place finish would still qualify for KO stage this time. But as I mentioned before, Argentina is notorious for being a slow starter at WC. Our first game tend to be a narrow win, draw or even a loss with 1994 being the only exception. I'd be very cautious of Algeria due to this tendency.

So we are going winger-less? I think this is the lineup Scaloni trusts most since our wingers are so underwhelming. Very narrow but he really trusts the movement between Messi, Julian, Macca, and Enzo. The latter 2 are all-around mids but very good at crashing the box at the right time, fluid, and can shoot from long range. Besides, we will face a bunker defense most likely which will neutralize our wingers who pretty much only excel at running into empty space.

 

I have a feeling Giuliano will start the tournament. With our lack of pace anywhere on the pitch really, he sorta has to.

I'd say at the group stage, the first game would be most important. If we get 3 points, then the next two games most likely wont be a high stake / must win games because 32 teams would still get through.

Although we definetely dont need Paredes, Molina and Tagliafico to deal with Algeria (on paper).
