I believe since 1986-present, Ronaldo Luis was the only who won the golden boots while also winning the title. I dont think people putting any weight on it other than all these young stats nerd who are mostly CR and Mbappe fans.

A player can scores a hattrick in meaningless 3rd place match which basically rendering the award pointless.

Molina's problem is not speed, it's losing his man due to lack of concentration or ball watching.

He's not played well in a single game, the opposition target him, he lacks concentration, discipline, he's a liability.

The 3rd place game is essentially is a friendly game for which the result is meaningless, so you can lose 6-4 but it doesn't matter because you scored a couple of goals and got an assist making sure you win the Golden Boot.

Yeah, better to have him face Baena than Nico Williams.

Hi everyone, haven't posted since the last WC. Praying for Argentina victory today. Argentina really purred in the second half against England and I think they took a few people by surprise with the quality of their play. Lots of talk about the English surrendering but Argentina were bloody good. I think Scaloni should play 433 today, with a front 3 of Lautaro, Julian and Messi. Julian and Lautaro have been scoring when both of them are on the pitch and they're both very dangerous players and it gives Spain more to think about and it just gives Argentina more going forward, whereas Argentina have struggled a bit playing 4 CMs in a 442. I would play Lautaro as the number 9 with the other two operating around him. Anyway what do I know? RDP was great when he came on against England but I would start with the same midfield and back four from that game. For me, Cuti has been the pick of our defenders in this tournament. RB is a bit of a concern but luckily Spain are stronger on the other flank.I really hope Argentina go with 3 attackers, just like they did against France in Qatar. Spain are very strong defensively but with that attack Argentina has goals in them. Cucurella marks very tight so Messi won't enjoy the same amount of space he enjoyed against England if he drifts out to the right. It's going to be interesting to see which areas he chooses to drift into because he won't get an awful lot of time and space against a side that tends to dominate midfield and possession. Hopefully he can conjure something magic and we'll all be celebrating at the end of the game. One thing's for sure, this team will play with pride and passion and they will fight to the death. They never know when they're beaten. Vamos Argentina. Let's do this.

The third place game is always there to pad your stats. Everybody remembers that Just Fontaine scored 13 goals at the 58 World Cup. Well, he scored four goals in the 3rd place game.

De Paul was surprisingly good coming on as sub against England. The cross for Mac, wow.

He was a lot better coming in the 2nd half all his passes and crosses were a lot more accurate than usual. I think Simeone did an underrated job, he really run nonstop.

I like Lo celso he is clutch but he hasn't played since group stage

In 2022 Di Maria didnt play in round 16, only last 8 mins againts Netherlands & didnt play in semi. Lo Celso didnt look like he's missing a beat when he played againts Jordan.

Its should be intersting if Somehow Lo Celso, Nico Paz & Barco (maybe 1 or 2 of them) makes an appearence in this game.

Messi is also a player/coach here as no one knows the Spanish system as well as he does.
He will walk offside look at the patterns and tell everyone what to do. Argentine likely don't keep a clean sheet but neither do Spain. I can see 1-1 after 90m. Beyond that it is in the hands of the soccer gods.

I think many of us are nervous is because we are in another final. Most people will never experience this in their lifetime. We’ve got to enjoy many finals over the last 5 years. We reached mountaintop and planted our flag. Our dreams came to true in Qatar. This is another chance to build on our legacy. As others have pointed out, let’s just enjoy it as much as we can, we don’t know how many more times we’ll get this opportunity.

I slept little last night. I watched several replays in the middle of the night to study while the wife and kids are asleep and I can focus. :) This is the way. Hermanos y hermanas, ponerse la camiseta!!! We leave everything on the field today. I have nothing else to say.

He did well but it was an unusual time for him to come on with us in absolute control of the ball. The prob with RDP 2026 is he doesn't have the legs to play the box to box role he was so good at. On top of it very prone to mistakes when we're trying to beat a press.

RDPs best attributes these 7 years have been covering the whole flank with his third lung, bursting runs from deep, craftiness and balls, and killer passes. Accurate crosses just a nice bonus.

Do we have our starting xi? Last time Scaloni didn't inform Di Maria he would start till they were in the dressing room?

How are we feeling about Tagliafico v Yamal? Tagliafico has done everything thing asked. One more test old man!

RDP will be one of the best players today... The guy just brings it when its needed.

Either as a stater or a super sub. We will be singing his praises. Another Masterclass from Scaloni.
