Only this morning some English canute showed a clip of Emi talking claiming Emi was swearing at the Spaniards.

It was obvious to anyone with a brain cell it was taken from the QF v the Dutch when they talked trash before the game and the players responded at the end. Plus there is all this AI garbage doing the rounds.

Clear foul. Vincic was a real hunt. Even in the first half Messi pulled out when the hunt Simon came to the halfway line. Should have bundled into him and claimed a foul and red card....

Maybe lost his motivation. Again he is pretty wealthy after his stint in the Middle East. Maybe that could fire him up and he brings on younger players too. PLus he was a lovely silky midfielder to watch and he could bring a little more of that grace to the team when needed.

 

An example of Enzo in midfield. This is just stupid. Trying to turn with no awaraness. Passing to him was also needless. Then we got 3 players expanding energy to chase that stupid play and failing. Including Alvarez and of course De Paul being useless

The notion that Spain played clean compared to us is an exaggerated fallacy. They had almost as many fouls as us (25 to 21) even though they had the ball way more than we did (65 to 35). They played extremely cynically to suffocate every counter opportunity. Our skilled players like Messi and Julian got fouled 10 times in 120 touches or so. Meanwhile Rodri only got fouled 3 times touching the ball way more than that all by himself.

In all fairness, he has collected 4 trophies. Also, this WC for him & Messi are more or less an additional quest. Both he & Messi can easily steps down after securing international treble in 2022 and he'd be considered a bonafide legend already.

However both of them along with ADM gifted us with another trophy in 2024. At that point, Scaloni already achieved more than any manager in Argentina history. Sometimes we forgot that Messi was 35 & 39 in the last two WC! A human being isnt suppose to dominates 2 WC at that age! His stats was bigger than Kane and Haaland! and even Mbappe only surpassed him a bit because of the meaningless bronze game.

 

Gallardo’s last stint reminds me a little bit of Bianchi’s. I remember in the early 2000s when people were clamoring for Larry David’s services, and the debate was Bielsa v Bianchi and people wanted Bianchi after the failure that was 2002 but he still held the job until after the 04 Olympics. While Gallardo’s last stint at River ended poorly maybe he needs a new project and motivation. As I mentioned earlier, many of our players will know him and love him.

Placente plays a nice game as well. Very possession based and whipping the balls around for openings. But the final of the Sub 20s, the team lacked pace and Morocco basically countered us to death, something Scaloni hoped to do v Spain but of course we don’t have those type of players. Still,’maybe with some tweaks, those issues could be addressed. I’ve always said that there needs to be continuity between the youth teams and the senior side. Play a similar way and gradually integrate players so the transition is smooth.

 

I have no idea but the fatigue builds. The heat. Whatever happened before the start. But we had to have some fresh players in.

 

Aiiiiii Masche.....what a disaster......Might as well pack up and give up in that case. Some players are not meant to be coaches. He is one. Just retire Masche and enjoy the family and travelling around. Will be interesting to see where Tags goes to start his coaching., Primera, Eredivisie or elsewhere. He's definitely a future manager.

 

There has to be an obsession with managers, particularly with senior level managers on how certain teams play. You need to watch the top 4-8 teams play religiously and see their strengths and weaknesses. There should be a notebook with details, looking at gaps and tendencies and how to exploit these teams. There needs to be a Plan A, B, C and D. Hire somebody to do to summarize it and explain the X and O’s if you don’t want an obsession with the details and games.

While, I agree you need teams to adapt to your playing style. Our style was just moving it slowly but then look for a gap and jump on it… The issue was we were way too slow, we allowed teams to set. You had bozos like De Paul who couldn’t control a single pass and Enzo and Mac who just did not have the legs. So; our best attack was hitting the panic button and throw the kitchen sink at teams, which worked until it didn’t.

But again, our playing style, remember those two African teams we played earlier in the yearly Remember how slow we played and we even ate a goal. We all chalked it up to be “The boys were not motivated.”

For the final, Scaloni basically reverted into some Bilardo style game from 1990 v Spain. If I wasn’t watching the game with my family, I would’ve seriously turned the tv off and left. I was that disgusted.
