It's bad enough as fans dealing with the losses in finals, I wonder how players cope, I'm specifically thinking of players like Higuain and Muani, they must replay the moment every day. At least Muani forced Dibu into a great save, Higuain on the other hand.......................

 

There will be tears, regardless of the scoreline, whenever someone loses a final it's just part of the football journey.

 

Some of you either overeacting or just Spain supporters in disguise. Spain won by a single goal at ET againts 10 men, does that mean they're worst winner of all time? Spain didnt made it pass group stage & round 16 in previous 3 editions but you dont see doom & gloom posts or reaction.
Argentina reached back to back final, but we're going to fall into the abyss ? Get a life


Zico, Cryuff, Platini, Stefano, Robben etc are doing just fine without WC trophy. Only CR & his fanbase are experiencing hell on earth.

I mean its clear Scaloni's plan was clearly to give Spain posession, try to counter and maybe maybe aim for a 15 minutes spell where we attack and take the game if needed. You could say he was playing for penalties, for sure the plan switched to that as the game progressed.

The injuries and lack of fitness is all on Scaloni. No one forced him to take injured players. Tbh Alavarez aside from goal was just a guy running, you could get someone from argentine league to do that lol. All the other teams also played full season. Its just a sad excuse for Scaloni who is just married to certain and can't cope without them. Take whoever is fit its very simple. If Paz is injured then take Dybala. Take Soule.

And if you have injured players you dont just abuse them. What Scaloni did to Enzo and Mac who are already slow is abuse. Really should have just played 3 CBs to take some of the workload away from Romero and Licha every game who not only have to cover for Molina's constant leaking but also have to run up in midfield intercept and create LOL. Something is wrong when your defenders can create and pass better than your midfielders.

I still think the midfield issues were very deep and Scaloni is 100% to blame. Enzo and Mac should never start together they are too similar and at this point they are more like goal poachers profile. They can barely keep the ball for 5 seconds. Literally every game I see them not just Spain its like they are trying to get rid of the ball ASAP. Scaloni should have just started the bench Barco-Palacios-Paz-Lo Celso and just said have fun.

The injuries are not an excuse, if anything they make Scaloni look even worse. His loyalty to players is bordering on a criminal act concealing fitness concerns just because he doesnt know any other way

 

Spain were 10 minutes away from losing in Penalties. Their attacks were pathetic, I know Dibu saved a lot but those are saves any keeper would be expected to make

 

It's a sport. It's supposed to be fun. Sometimes you lose. It wouldn't be so valuable if that weren't a possibility. Nobody cares about Bundesliga title any more because it's so devalued by one team always (or almost always) winning it.

My hockey team fell just short of winning three Stanley Cups in a row. 11 playoff rounds undefeated, something that hadn't been done since the early 80s. I still appreciate that last run. Came back from a game down to beat the Leafs, swept the cross state rivals Panthers, came back from two games down against the Rangers. Just ran out of gas at the end (and they did all this while missing their best center to injury, let's say someone equivalent to Di Maria since he was our Messi's partner in crime), losing two games in overtime. It sucks, but you can't throw it all away for one bad moment.

 

Doesn't matter if you win by a single goal or you win by 10 goals or you win by pens, the bit that matters is you win. Spain are very much the team of the 21st century, 2 world cups, 3 euros, olympic gold, nations league. Us and France have played in 3 finals each in 21st century. Of course this all pales into insignificance when you thing of the monumental achievement of England drawing 2-2 with Greece at home with a last gasp Beckham free kick. Surely the greatest footballing moment ever

 

No shots on target & needs 30 chances to convert 1 are just equally bad. Spain lack of goal in KO stage will eventually bites them. I congratulates them for being able to rely on 1 goal victory in 2010 and 2026, but their losses to Italy, Morocco & Russia shows you that its only takes one bad day where they failed to be 1 goal ahead & they're freakin done.

Jeez, you're back to your default setting, weird obsession about teams winning 1 nil as if that is against the rules of football. I mention the nations league because for a european side you can only win the World Cup, The Euros and the nations league. Which they have won. Just have a day off for godsake.

 

Also keep in mind Spain and France have every advantage in the universe compared to us as far as economically and not being basketcases of corruption. That we're able to succeed in spite of all the obstacles to win so much is crazy tbh. This is not to say it's unfair they have those advantages because they do things right, just saying we're crippling ourselves in so many ways. I wish we could fix these issues, just imagine then.

 

Look the coach has to bear responsibility for setting up like that and not using the squad.

As I said it doesn't matter how good you are and the mind is willing if your body can't do what you want to do.

They are super players but the system and selections were wrong. I was asking as were others for a change in formation and players what with a days less rest it is logical but as I also said humans are often irrational and instead of looking at the factual data Scaloni went down the tried and trusted and sentiment.

Anyway Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina likely to face lengthy bans. Paredes was superb after the whistle though. Probably could along with Otamendi fought and beaten the entire Spanish team of wimps. I can guarantee something was said by Gavi and company to spark it. And of course they are all pretending to be innocent.

You know shitty Spain that have won bugger all before for sixty years claiming to be the masters of football.

 

Paredes was about to beat the living daylights of that little winker Gavi and making Eric Garcia wet himself was fun.....Hoipe Cubarsi the seal gets a nasty ACL. Would be great karma.

They asked Scaloni about what happened coming out of the locker room with Messi having to tell the guys not to worry and just play, but he claims he doesn't know.
