I think we can go back to traditional 4-4-2 with julian and lautaro at front , along with 4 strong midfielders . Lets keep moving ahead

Belgium certainly. Might have won had Courtois not been forced to go off and Lammens made that error. Belgium though had pace down the wings in Doku and a physical presence up front in Ketalaare and then Lukaku. We decided not to play Barco and Lopez (okay not a huge lump but great in the air). Did the team study the Belgium game ?

We won CA final without Messi, although at the time we still had ADM to compensate his absent. But when we beat Brazil 4-1 without Messi , at that point I actually thought we're finally moving pass Messi era, but Messi miraculously hit 8 goals + 4 assists across 7 games so I can understand why nobody from the coaching team would be thinking of replacing him. Remember that Messi couldnt provide much against England for much of the game until the final 15 minutes.

What is also criminal is how thanks to the negative set up we never brought Leo into the game. In effect he was a passenger for the most part standing forlornly up the pitch. That is truly abject from Scaloni to blunt your key weapon by setting up so negatively.

I would temper that 4-1 v Brazil although we played very well Brazil were fielding was it Bento in goal and two makeshift fullbacks I think Arana was one who have not been seen since.

But we'll have to get on in the post Messi era as we did in the post Maradona era. Cups are won by teams not individuals. The best individuals provide that extra sparkle and glitter but a well organized team of high level individuals can still succeed just as well.

Well done Paredes...... Just like Cufre........We have that Latin temper. Not bothered really. Several players in that Spanish side are very unlikeable characters. I'd have done the same.

We'll be thinking of it forever. If Scaloni had been more positive. If Nico G could control a football. If Simeone was a footballer. If Cuti and Licha had not been injured.

Same as in 2014 those three chances keep playing forever in my mind. Same as I guess for England fans when Charlton was subbed out against West Germany with them 2-0 up to lose 3-2 or Hungarian fans when they missed chance after chance in 1954 and were 2-0 up early on. They could have won with a goleada or I suppose Dutch fans if Nanniga last minute attempt had not hit the post.

It's quite depressing. As they say seize the moment because it isn't coming back again. And as you get older you do start to wonder how many more World Cups will I see.

I actually thought I wont be seeing this NT lifting a trophy in my lifetime after the 2018 disaster. So the 4 titles we won in last 5 years was rather a crazy suprise. I wont take that for granted.

Hell, we won 7 games in a row in this tourney without needing a shootout, that's already exceeds my expectation. Argentina has never win 7 matches in a row in WC, even in 2022 we lost the opener and two games went into penalties! So again, dont take our great run in last 5 years for granted cause while we might be winning the next one, we might also wait for another 20 years to get to another final.

I'll tell you what... if FIFA wants even more $$, lets bring back the 2026 Finalissima:D

One of the best things Scaloni can do or his team is get Tresoldi capped as soon as possible. You can never have too many options.

The kid has everything to be a top class striker and we need some depth behind Julian and Lautaro.

For those of you who are coming up with excuses for this team: they were tired fatique caught up with them, injuries and bad fortune happened. Keeping your nerves, calm and paying attention to the game are things they could have controlled. They never lost their cool during the world cup final verus france. That game and this final were completely two different levels. Where was scaloni to coach that from them, orchestrate their composure. That's his job. Championship teams still find a way to win, find new methods. If they had to bunker down, change formation to go to pk, buy in. Enzo, Paredes and Molina at fault

In the 2014 final at least they played football, they didnt' lose their cool. There were chances, but there were chances, there was hope, they played well. They took it to germany

the 2014 final and 2022 final are something to be proud about, this final was a complete embarrassment and failure - no game plan and the worst is they let down messi. They were in their own minds.

you're french. your entire DNA genetic code is composed of racists and weak little pathetic european strings of genetic material. Your greatest leader was 5`5, and your greatest achievement was being someones invaded country from 1939 to 1945. You entire history is folded in failure and cowardice. Even today your men are the weakest link in europe.

Do you think he would be better suited to change from within an executive role to change the whole dynamic of thet team to update their standards. I think that would be way more beneficiary than just being a coach for one cycle - having being a major figure head in operations of afa with the qualities you just described

Now that I think about it, the cup celebration was such a cluster******** they couldn't greet most of the fans anyway so it's kind of pointless to go down there

So Lo Celso, Nico Paz and the entire Argentina's bench are so bad that Scaloni would rather playing dead legs instead? Or are there some agendas from Scaloni here?

No rotation and no trust in your players are the reason for this pathetic performance. The midfield were completely dead and couldn't hold the ball for 1 second without losing or passing it back, couldn't cope with Spain's pressing at all.

Romero and Lisandro injuries aren't just bad luck. The accumulation of fatigue has led to this consequence.

I've said earlier today that there's something fishy with Nico Paz post on his social media not long after our losses. I'm suspecting that the core players refused to be replaced at all cost and basically told Paz to sit down and just watch them play.

Messi was certainlly in shape in that game. Everytime he touched the ball he managed to produce something, even helped defending sometime. But man, the whole team performance, can't believe in 2022 they could play such fast and precision play.

If that could help get rid of the corruption that would be great. He's spoken out about the issues in Argentine football and is clearly passionate about it. Problem is any role in AFA probably requires spending a lot more time in Argentina which would put a serious damper on his lifestyle with all the hysteria he inspires everywhere.

It's sad if true. Lots came into light in 2022 when Scaloni put trust in them.

What's the point of having next generation but you don't want to risk, want to trust?
