Every team that has played Spain gave up before kick off, other than Belgium. Portugal, France and now us just waited to lose without ever trying to win.

Not easy. They suffocate the opposition. Chasing the ball for majority of the time is not easy.

I think he is too trusting of the core. And to be fair to the core they played and delivered but sometimes you need a more positive fresh approach.

Barco 19 minutes, Paz ? Lopez ? Some really fresh legs. I would drop Simeone. Imagine Soule as a more creative option. Simeone is a bit limited.

It's going to be hard to solve the issue of di Maria and Messi but we'll just have to work better as a team and use the next 4 years to blood the pibes and see who has it and who emerges.

Cuti, Licha, Enzo, Julian will still be around. And also losing Licha and Cuti didn't help matters and still the boring Spanish barely mustered a chance.

I just wanna say been here since 2014 and really grew up with this team and all the posters on here throughout the years. I feel like we all been through a lot too going all the way down to rock bottom and back

I think I’m going to be done with this sport for a while. Maybe watch some shitty club soccer

the relief is actually no pressure next cycle watching this

Montiel with all his limitations would be playing with every ounce of blood giving his all even if its the 300th minute

scaloni defaulted to automated, preplanned modifications.. he took the game as if it were a FIFA match without actually considering any factors/realities of what was happening on the pitch

Dibu, Tag, Cuti, Licha. Fair play you were great. Enzo, RDP, Mac absolutely terrible - we literally played without a midfield. Giuliano and Nico G the less said the better.

easy to say in hindsight, we should ofc have went for it and actually take some risk before we went down to 10 and then conceded.

Not if you knock them out of their stride and hustle and counter press. The set up and formation was poor from Scaloni initially handing over territory and possession and Messi couldn't even get into the game. Maybe the team was out of gas after some mentally and physically exhausting encounters.

    Scaloni is a coward.
    He got scared by Spain.
Put Nico G (imagine if he starts instead of DiMaria in 22') to double up on Lamine who wasnt even that good Tag had him locked anyway
    We gave Spain insane respect

Subs were shit the starting 11 seemed Scaloni wanted to give trust to ride or die with RDP one last time

but it’s possible there were injury issues we don’t know about. I just can’t understand why he keeps rotating Montiel/Molina.

I think Medina sub was cuz Tagliafico was actually injured and just running on fumes

I need a break from the national team, this tournament has done me in, would have loved to seen that 4th star, 7 finals 4 losses, sad for a country that produced Maradona and Messi, (and Di Stefano), we should have as many as Brazil. Anyway, take care of yourself , I'm taking a break from football.

Tag completely undressed Yamal. Always at least a 7 out of 10 from Tag. Love the guy. So so underrated.

I agree. You cannot hope to win if you set up the way he did and concede that much territory and possession. It nullifies your own best options. It's not a great gameplan to trust to keep them out and doing nothing attacking wise. Albeit they are a dreadfully dull side and barely created anything but that stat of zero touches in their box during the first half and 0 shots on target is abysmal.

We are Argentina not the Faeroe Islands.

Thats down to Scaloni. Why not utilize Barco Paz , Lo Celso or even Lopez (other than Switzerland game)?

Expecting Enzo & Mac to play 1000 minutes ?

He is a warrior too. We desperately need to get a young left back in. Escobar will only be 21 in 2030. He needs guidance and a bit of control too and focus on his football.

Soler wasted a whole season this season. Refused to come to us here at Watford and kicked his heels. Our pibes need to make better choices in order to grow.

On the bright side. Spain just showed you don’t need a generational once in a lifetime superstar to win (no Yamal ain’t it)

they were like a damn AI team where all 11 were superb technical players with no amazing qualities but together that was straight up best team for a long time let’s be honest. They way they just choke the possession out of you

we had one of the best teams in history as well but unfortunately there were always holes and weak spots that was hidden by the GOAT. Looking at you fking Molina

    What a disappointment

Oh well, Spain deserved it. We got caught in their spiderweb of passes just like everybody else. We almost managed to hold on on to the end, not too bad for an old team.

    Congrats to the champions!

Soler also rejected River to prioritze staying in Europe.

Well I think that was more on Bournemouth, but still.. he could have had regular playing time leading to the WC

I remember like six months ago or so, Scaloni gave a press conference saying “Well, I’m not too happy to play the Finalissima so close to the World Cup.” Some of us, including myself, maybe Scaloni does not want to show his ace up his sleeve…. Starting Nico G and De Paul was his ace(s)? We could’ve sacrificed that trophy to get a feel for them… But nah, we pushed against it… Anytime you got an opportunity to play a potential rival, particularly from Europe, you take it…

********, I can’t recall the last time I was this disappointed with this group. In 2019 when we lost to Brasil in the CA in the semi, I was proud because we played well enough. This was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from us. Just everything went wrong. It was very much preventable.

Yeah, word on the street is that the match was canceled because of Argentina’s orders, as they didn’t want the match to have a demoralizing impact like the 6-1 friendly loss did in 2018 three months before the tournament..

In the end, now we wish we could have gotten that test run. But at the same time, who could have guessed Scaloni would also decide to have his worst tactical disasterclass just in this game out of all of them. I guess like Gallardo, he was bound to falter

Credit to Tag, but Yamal in this WC was below Saviola 2006 level.

2 copas and the third star at the end is nothing to scoff at. But fk doesn’t make this anything less painful

these 2 WC final losses there were really chances to win both

Higuain in 2014 and Molina (I really want to to give a pass to Enzo) in 2026. Just these individual mistakes man
