Not the worse group but not annwyah easy either. I knew we would end up with a team with notable English born players. Particularly if Ghana get some of the players they rumoured to be targeting for a pre World Cup switch.
Also followed up by playing in Miami if you make it through, which is definitely going to be absolutely brutal, especially if they keep to daytime kick offs. Only a 4 day turnaround to the next game after Miami, I think that's going to be a massive impediment to whoever ends up in that game. Looking a mid 30s and mid 70s humidity on Miami in July for a daytime game.
I am very disappointed. A terrible draw for England. First of all England got on the wrong side of the bracket. Ie the one where if you win the group, you are on track to play the last semi final (one day after the first). It is almost impossible to win a tournament after playing the second semi final. Second the teams in the group are some of the thougest from each seed. No likes of Curacao, Cape Verde, Uzbekistan, New Caledonia etc, where you can kill the game in 10 minutes, put Hendersen on and relaxingly pass the ball around to save strength. Third, Climate wise it looks terrible, Mexico City, Atlanta, Miami, in the knock outs. These places are hot, and thin air in Mexico City to boot. Albeight, most other places may be just as bad. All in all, very disapointing.
Like who are they targeting? I very much doubt Acheampong will switch anytime soon and especially now.
Because, you get more rest before the tournament? On the other hand you have to play the games over shorter time, which I would think is worse ...
Look at when leagues finish etc. An extra few days rest at the start might be more helpful. Especially with the first game being Croatia
We have to mitigate that as much as we can by utilizing a full squad. Tuchel needs to rotate players and not be scared to sub/drop people if they don't perform
Of World and Euro Men and Women tournaments. (For second semis on different days). The Athletic did an article about it in the summer.
Are you American, or do you just use American spelling? Noticed a few differently spelled words, just curious.
It is a horrible statistic, and in fairness it should be changed, same day semi, or longer rest before final to mitigate (just not change it if it is an advantage for England in 2028). Seem like Spain also was the last to win the Euros from the second semi in 2008. That Spain team, was a hell of a team.
If we runner up in the group it’s likely Colombia in the R32 and Spain in R16. Belgium possibly in the QF’s.
Dogshit group. Croatia are more than capable of getting a result but they're not the team they once were. Ghana can be very good or awful and Panama we should best comfortably
Also plus side is Croatia will have the same problem as us with the climate so we're not playing a team from a hot country
Croatia is a fair bit hotter than England in the summer. But or match against them will very been under the roof in Dallas or in Toronto which is one of more manageable climates.
