What a shambles. FIFA, the mainstream sports media, and the official network broadcasting the tournament will try to deceive and gaslight the public into believing that this tournament in the US will be sunshine and rainbows. They will want you to turn a blind eye to the fact that this country is at war with Iran and with its own citizens, particularly immigrant looking people and they will gaslight you if you don’t.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the fans travelling there from Europe are be quite jealous of the deporting illegals part.
I suppose the great irony for both sides in America is that sober analysts estimate that deportations under this Trump administration will only hit levels similar, or marginally higher, than they were under 'Deporter in Chief' Barack Obama.
I don't think it's the numbers that most people worry about. It's more the conflation of legal and illegal immigrants, the repeated illegality of Trump's deportations, often of people with genuine rights to be in the US, backed by an under-trained goon squad with seemingly no oversight targeting people based on looks rather than evidence.
Ironically, situations involving ICE are precisely the kind of abusive government power our Founding Fathers predicted and had in mind when they wrote and enshrined the Second Amendment in the Constitution in the late 1700s. I’m a legal gun owner, the text of the Amendment stood test of time:
Sure—spot on. However, as a recovering constitutional lawyer, I advise immigrant communities in Los Angeles who are American citizens that the Second Amendment is for EVERYBODY. If using any lethal force against intruders in your home or property is qualified as a justifiable act of self-defense under the “castle doctrine” in the state of California. Any federal force like ICE who enter your home or property without a warrant signed by a federal judge are no different from intruders. At that point, you’re well within your rights to treat them accordingly.
Iran still saying it will Withdraw from the World Cup. Wonder what the odds nobody replaces them and that group becomes a three team one.
