Speaking of time to get government documents, if you ever come across Duncan Oughton, don't remind him about his green card. He had to start the process over again because 9/11 happened.

Yes. Yes, it does. So no Rossi (obviously), Mendes Herrera, Bailly, or Giaccone.

At least Arfsten appears to be a go.

    ---------------------Schulte----------------
    ---Moreira---Zawadzki---Amundsen
    Farsi---Bangoura---Gomes---Arfsten
    -----Habroune---Gazdag---Picard----

Maybe Chambost for Gomes. Is Malte fit? Maybe Taha & Hugo switch sides.

Ive always found all that a bit puzzling. And frustrating.

Its no secret that a Congresscritter can make some calls, lean on some people who desperately need his support come budget time, and get the skids greased up on green cards and all that. Other teams were able to make it happen.

And Columbus at the time had John Kasich, who was Chairman of the budget committee and a key mover. But nobody on the Crew had the local connections to pick up the phone and make it happen.

Now.they certainly do. Forget Haslam, if someone high up at Nationwide were to ring up a Congresscritter and express some concern, Im betting things could move along quite smartly.

I'm curious. Based on the image you posted, what makes you say Mendez is a PK merchant? Or is this a brilliant bit?

Dont think its a DP. If we dont get another DP by the end of the window then he could be moved into dp spot for salary reasons. Althought that should go to someone making 900k+

Probably seems that way because we follow the timeline very closely for our signings and not at all for everyone else.

I do remember Vermes throwing a fit a couple years ago when they made two big signings from Europe but it took them a while to get their visas sorted.

In regard to the picture, I will be honest. Mrs KG and I did not stay for Portland's in 2015.

Not going to lie, I didn’t realize Flacco got called up for the World Cup. Would have been nice to have had a healthy forward on the team.

Not the biggest herrara fan, but it isnt as damning of a move as doyle thinks. That chambost contract extension bugs me still.

Agree we are taking a lot of fliers on older and injury prone players. A bit of a haslam playbook there

Yeah, I think he's overstating the Herrera situation. Sure, peak Farsi is the better option, although I think Herrera is a bit more goal-dangerous. Unfortunately, it has been a minute since we've seen Farsi at the top of his game, and it feels like he's primed to be one of our next players to move, so I understand why we made the Herrera move.

I am super interested to see how Courtois puts all these pieces together once everyone is here, as well as if the FO makes a move on Gazdag.

Yeah, I don’t agree with all of what Doyle said either, but the point about recruiting over Taha is what interests me. Because I have to admit, I’m not sure what we have with him. I do agree that he’s currently our most talented prospect. But he’s kind of a tweener. I don’t think he’s solid enough in central midfield to lock in there. And he’s not really goal dangerous or quick enough as an attacking mid to excite me that much. His best attribute is how clean he is on the ball, and his passing. Useful for sure.

I really like the kid, when he’s on he can be a joy to watch. And obviously he’s still developing. But as much as I’m a fan of his, I don’t really see enough tools where we can say this guy is definitely going to be a pillar going forward unfortunately.

I didn’t stay either. But when the other team scores a goal immediately after the ball went three yards out of bounds, that gave us a right not to stay.

That happens in sports. Ask any Flyers fan about the missed/blown offside call in the Stanley Cup finals (to his credit, the linesman owned up to it, and folks respected that).

So rumor is that Seba Berhalter is on his way to Boro after missing the Whitecaps game last night. So, if/when they sign Max, they will have three former crew guys. Add in Zach Steffen's loan spell and Boro seems to be a Columbus Crew collector. Will be fun to see them in the EPL in a few years with Adams uptop.

I could not agree more. His most natural fit for me is a position we don't use, the CAM in a 4231. Or in a diamond 442. Underneath the striker in a 3421 is his best fit for us.

Still, he has a lot of nice twinkle toe moments and is clean on the ball, but does not deliver the final pass consistently and still kind of snatches at chances when he tries to finish. Lacks composure sometimes. Still young though.

At the moment, we don't have a CF. We don't have a playmaker. We doen't have a dangerous winger. We don't have a dominant CB. Nor a CM who controls the game.

We are like 5 guys away from being really good. And likely 3 from being any good at all.

A lot of tweeners. Taha. Zawadzki. Moreira. Amundsen. Gazdag. Arfsten. Herrera. The RCB/wingback types work pretty well in our system, but no one else really does.

Maybe Mendez fills one of those spots. But he looks like another tweener to me. A better version of Taha. Not quite a winger but not quite a #10 and not strong enough for CM. Useful. But hard to build around. If you play them together (or with Gazdag) we don't have any long speed.

This to me reads that they are buying Seb instead of Max, not that they are going to acquire both players

Boro just got 18 million dollars for hackney. And their two biggest needs last year were LB/LWB/LW and a striker.
