Brooks Lennon has been signed as a free agent through June 2027. Team options for 2 years thereafter.
Maybe yes, maybe no. Its possible that they just wanted to move the guy and an INT slot was on offer. Its an asset like anything else.
Losing Herrera is no big loss. Lennon is comparable offensively, probably a bit better IMO. Neither are great defensively. If the goal is to play attacking soccer, I'd say it's a decent move. I assume Farsi is 90 minutes fit now and the starter for the rest of the year. Lennon will be a decent backup. It's weird that he's been free since January. I saw he was on trial with DC in preseason. Anyone know why he didn't sign elsewhere earlier? I refuse to believe no one was interested in him until now. Maybe it took him a while to accept he's not a starter anymore and was being picky about where to go?

I like him, but even then my expectations are low. Thought we should have signed him in January, assuming herrara, arf, and farsi would all be gone.
Atlanta United fans I’ve seen on social media over the past few years, when the team has been dreadful, seemed to be of the opinion that Lennon sucked and was a contributing factor in their ongoing dreadfulness. Take that for what it’s worth.
Bez is making moves that improve the roster but don’t hamstring us in the future. I think this year is spent. We just have to play respectable and make a plan for next year. If brooks lasts until next summer and moves on, so be it.
We'll have three international slots when we put Abou Ali on season ending injury and Herrera's contract expires.
I mean, they've been shit for a long time now, including without him. As well as the coaching has been bad, the FO, the entire roster, the academy, etc. I'm gonna assume more than just Lennon was a problem. He's an offensive wing back (used to be a winger). If he is here just to attack when we need goals off the bench, it's fine. Farsi will start over him.
Not great, but he's played 25-33 games each year the last five years. Not like he misses tons of time. And he's a backup on essentially a one year prove it deal with options. It's fine. Farsi will be here the rest of this season I think.
I have to guess the achilles thing has scared some teams away. Its pretty much the worst injury an athlete can sustain. You'd much rather blow out an acl. Very hard to come back.100% Hes never exactly been Reese James, but hes a serviceable guy who's available at a reasonable price. Those guys can usually find work. Aside from the Achilles, surely someone would have signed him on a lowball deal with incentives, as you say.
He trialed with DC in January, but they backed off because I guess he wasn't fit from his injury yet at that point.
Well, I also wonder how fit he actually was if he was trialing with DC in preseason. The injury was October, dude was probably barely fit. DC probably didn't wanna sign a guy for a full season when he was likely only gonna play half of it, a third at most. If he's just a sub and change of pace guy here, then I'm not worried about it. He is (or was, we'll see) a dude that ran a lot, Sorta like Farsi, not necessarily the fastest guy, but could out work 99% of dudes in the league. He's a decent crosser. He's like a reverse Julian Gressel. Gressel is a phenomenal crosser, but is slow as shit and not very mobile, whereas Lennon could run and run and run, but without the pinpoint crossing. Like most MLS players, when he's on he's on, and when he's not he's not.
