The competition is tough for Schulte. He probably needs an injury or a disasterclass from one of the guys called up in order to have a shot.
This is the issue IMO. It's not that there's a logjam of talent, like when Friedel and Keller were battling for starts while guys like Howard, then Guzan and Thornton et. al. were just happy to make the bench (particularly when Arena would use Fat Tony anyway). The cupboard is fairly bare at the moment. When a mediocrity like Matt Turner still has relevance it's a sad state of affairs. Not that they're all terrible, but nobody is all that great.
We had it really good for a long time with Keller, Friedel, & Howard. Even longer if you want to count Meola, and I would. But that is over now.
If only that Bad Mother F***er Zak Steffen would have shaved his head back in the day, maybe some of that bald mojo would have rubbed off on him and he’d have been in that group…

Great move on paper. Fills a need and was highly regarded a few years ago at Louisville before his move to Benfica
I used to casually follow Louisville City and when teams were pursuing Josh Wynder I had hoped the Crew would make an offer too. Loved the idea of us potentially getting a new star CB from Cincinnatis arch rivals before they came to MLS! Now seems like a reasonable time to make a go at him, especially if a loan to try him before we buy him is possible.

That was my first thought. In terms of players, Cucho/Morris make no sense for the players. Ditto Berhalter from Vancouver (no sense for the Caps either). Nagbe out of retirement? He does not seem the type to change his mind. Guys like TV or Ramirez do not really move the needle. What is Lucas up to these days?
I’m not sure anyone here has any insider info about the Crew, it seems that the old source stopped talking when the details got spread around other social media ; )
