I'm not exaggerating about anything. I'm just saying I'm tired of hearing (and even me saying it too) of the same old excuse of "well, Liga MX has like 9 DPs".
I'm not even baiting. Just pointing out the go to excuse we always see when it comes to CCC and MLS teams. Whatever Liga MX does MLS can do too they just choose not to. So bringing up "well, Liga MX teams have like 9 DPs" is just people trying to cope. Every single year we see that excuse all over social media. Never fails.
Garber also talks about it in like…every interview he gives about the state of the league. He talked about the collective league valuation at a conference two weeks ago. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.c...utm_term=8706f57a-7b61-45bd-95d1-eaabf0edd06d
It’s not an excuse, it’s a reason. MLS as a business choosing to spend the way they do while pleading poverty is one thing (is that happening anywhere?), but it seems like you’re getting mad at fans for pointing it out, which doesn’t make much sense.
I admitted I too am guilty of pointing it out but it gets tiresome year after year giving the "DP" excuse. But don't worry next year you'll see post about "Liga MX has like 9 DPs" again if you scroll over social media. Never fails.
Im not sure about DP but what I can say is the average level of the non-dp player is still much higher than MLS and that is the difference.
LAFC's apparent second goal in two minutes is in an extended VAR check. Whether or not it counts, Toluca's defense looks very porous in the second half.
Liga MX, at least those that compete in CCC and not the rest of Liga MX to clarify, do tend to have better "average" players because they pay better. Whether it is a domestic player or foreigner, the better "average" Liga MX players tend to always play for the better paying Liga MX teams.
Yours was not the bait I was referring to (though I do disagree that a league-leading striker being out is the same sort of "excuse" that we've seen in the past)
Whereas I'm thinking Tigres only got this far because of the away goals rule. That's not exactly a strong argument for Liga MX superiority or MLS weakness.
Pretty much lost the first leg by only being up by 1 goal. Literally impossible to not give 1 up at Toluca. Will have to score.
#LAFC coach Marc Dos Santos blasts MLS for the domestic schedule during Concacaf Champions Cup: I want to meet the genius who makes the schedule pic.twitter.com/N2nyb95qlv— Eduard Cauich (@MayanTiger1) April 30, 2026 Seriously? The issue isn't solely the schedule. The overarching issue is how rosters are built and the budget rules that determine how a team builds them. How do South American Clubs deal with balancing League, State, Cup, and Continental competitions? Cry me a river LAFC. It's not like you still have to deal with the Open Cup in addition to league and CCC play.
Yeah, I was gonna say, they don't have 9 DPs. They have nine guys who in MLS terms would be TAM types. Therefore MLS teams are very reliant on their DPs to be the best players on the field. If Sam Surridge is out, it's a ton to try to make up for. https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/297/overview/concacaf-champions-cup If I look up the top players in any given stat, there are plenty of MLS players on that list. The top guys aren't the problem.
Top guys is why MLS is becoming competitive with LigaMX. Lloris for example has been the man of the tournament for LAFC. Put in a domestic/or non dp goalie and I don’t think LAFC fares the same in the last game vs Cruz azul or last night with Toluca.
1. Guys, don’t feed the troll. 2. It’s not “literally impossible” to not give up a goal. English, ************************, do you speak it? The Brett from that scene is probably about 60 years old now. Man, time flies.
