According to the CONCACAF website, there is a fixed bracket to determine the knockout matches, but specific matches will be assigned to dates and locations after each round is complete. QF matchups are: 1A v. 2D, 2A v. 1D, 1B v. 2C, 2B v. 1C USA is in Group D and Mexico is in Group A. The semifinals are crossover, so two teams from the same group can't meet there. I assume that Mexico's QF, whether they are 1A or 2A, is intended for Glendale, and the B/C match on the same side of the bracket will be the other part of that doubleheader. If I'm correct, that means the USA plays the QF in Minneapolis unless they are playing Mexico, or if they don't advance at all. I'll also assume that the semifinal in Santa Clara is designated for Mexico. If Mexico doesn't advance that far, they may consider putting the USA there.
...which would put the USA in the semi-final in St. Louis, if they get to that point and aren't facing Mexico... ...which is my point. The WNT friendly won't impact scheduling of a Gold Cup match, which means that both the USWNT and USMNT could be playing at the same time, which as I mentioned, obviously isn't ideal.
I’m thinking they’ll want to finalize the semifinals before the QF games. Both for the sake of logistics (only 2 days between) and for selling tickets to the presumptive Mexico semifinal in Santa Clara, on the off chance Mexico loses in the QF.

Lol and Paul Tenorio immediately shooting that report down Despite reports, I am told the #USMNT will not be playing Argentina in Doha in November. Opponents tbd, but current plan is for games to be at home. A lot of teams want to come to the U.S. for World Cup prep.— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) May 15, 2025
Goff also https://bsky.app/profile/stevengoff.bsky.social/post/3lpcb4fwtws2c Said also later in the thread the NFL schedule release will help clarify specific venues.
Regardless, USA vs Argentina would've been a waste of both teams' time. The USA is vastly outclassed by Argentina in every way in every position.
I base my opinion off the team's current form. If they improve (and there's an infinitesimal chance there), that will be great. However, I don't have much confidence that it will improve in time for 2026.
For October, CONMEBOL will no longer be in WCQing. https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(CONMEBOL) The rumours are that Mexico will host Ecuador in Guadalajara. And Mexico will face Colombia in Dallas. Argentina looks out of the question, as they may play in Africa and Asia.
I'm suggesting it's likely the #USMNT plays against at least one of the two. During that window, Canada will play one match in Montreal and another somewhere else [either in Canada or in the USA], so Canada might play one of those two teams.

@alslammerz You're on a short leash right now. Turn things around, immediately, or there will be consequences.
The rumour is, after playing Mexico in Dallas, Colombia will play Canada in Washington D.C. This would make Ecuador the most likely opponent for the USA in October. The next highest ranked teams that have no rumoured matches elsewhere in the world are Australia and Peru. My bet would be an October window of Ecuador [last match against the USA was in 2019?] and Peru [last match against the USA was in 2018?]. EDIT: For October, USA hosting Ecuador now rumoured in press in Ecuador! https://www.primicias.ec/deportes/ecuador-amistosos-fecha-fifa-octubre-mexico-estados-unidos-98451/
