The Round of 32 draw, which includes 16 MLS teams, will be on CBS Sports Golazo Network at 8:15 am today. I get Golazo via Pluto TV. I'm sure there are other ways.
Four 3rd division teams still in it which is pretty impressive, I wonder if that's ever happened before (1/4 of "qualifying" teams into the round of 32).
So the lowest ranked teams remaining are. Union Omaha (L1), AV Alta (L1), Tacoma (NP) and Chattanooga RW (L1). Presumably El Farolito win a prize for being the last remaining USASA team.
Yep, El Farolito already won the Open Division prize. It is not necessarily for a USASA team. USSSA, NPSL, and USL-League 2 teams are also eligible. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2024/04/el-farolito-is-the-spice-of-the-open-cup
EDIT: I'm not sure what you mean by "qualifying teams". I just looked for DIII teams. Hmm. There were three Division III teams in the Round of 32 last year. I'll have to look to see if there were ever four. That didn't take long. In 2022 there were six DIII teams in the Round of 32: Rochester New York (NP) California United Strikers (NISA) North Colorado Hailstorm (USL1) Richmond Kickers (USL1) South Georgia Tormenta (USL1) Union Omaha (USL1)
Third round results analysis: Home teams again went 9-7 on advancement. Road teams doing very well. Seems to be a theme for this year's tournament. Advancement by affiliation: USL-C 12-8 MLS Next Pro 1-1 USL-1 3-6 NPSL 0-1 Some of those USL-Championship losses were against other USL-C teams but only 7-5 against lower division teams. Cumulative results for the tournament: Home teams 35-29 By affiliation: MLS Next Pro 8-4 USL-C 23-12 USL-1 15-8 USASA 2-4 USL-2 2-7 NPSL 1-7 UPSL 1-8 USSSA 0-1

More just a distinction for the percentage of teams they put through...I don't recall how the tournament was setup in 2022, but if there were 64 teams the round prior then 6/32 still isn't as impressive at 4/16 if that makes sense (if it was the same as this year where MLS teams entered at the round of 32 then yes that was an even better year for them).
Ah. Ok. In 2022 there were 48 teams in the round before the Round of 32. So DIII got 6 of the 24 that advanced. Still a quarter of the teams that advanced. And there were 17 MLS teams in that Third Round so pretty good competition. Three of the DIII teams advanced against MLS opponents.
3 years later and half of those teams no longer exist. (Or "don't currently exist".) Soccer in this country is tough.
I had to look that up. NPSL, NISA Nation and The League for Clubs, along with various regional leagues and state leagues are USASA sanctioned, whereas USL L2 and UPSL are not, according to Wikipedia. What a tangled web we weave.

Literally just said to myself I was kinda bummed I didn’t catch much of any games this week, then I consoled myself by saying why should I really care if my team isn’t in the competition. Come to find out my team is in the competition after all. Thx, Jay!
Yikes that's a pretty big road trip for AV Alta...can't be cheap for a USL1 team that's already operating on a shoestring budget most likely; wasn't one of the investments into the tournament this year to compensate teams more for travel, or am I misremembering?
Rhode Island FC opens their brand new stadium on Saturday May 3rd, then they host the Revs there in USOC action 4 days later. Looking forward to it.
Up to $45k I believe. Up from $15k in 2023. https://thecup.us/2024/03/13/2024-u...match-revenue-more-travel-money-ringer-rules/

Now that CBS is putting non MLS open cup games on cbssn, and they got good ratings from us, could we see the open cup final on CBS??
