Some of CAF's growing pains which must be addressed, if it wants to grow the women's sport.

Hopefully having the u17 WWC every year will help keep the spotlight on such incompetent federations.

This and they only had 6 available players after halftime which is too few to field a team according to FIFA.

Totally unrelated, but I find interesting how in many African countries (especially in the English-speaking ones) there are a lot of female names (I am not as much expert about male names, but I suppose it's anyway different there) that correspond to abstract qualities (that are sometimes, but not always, related to religion).

If you just look at the list of the scorers in the last two posts, we have: a Grace, a Mercy, an Hope, an Harmony, a Patience.
There is even a Deo-Gratias!

Today I have watched the U17 tournament for the first time this year. I have seen exactly one match, Puerto Rico vs Panama, and I what i saw said a lot about how to beat Panama. Just shoot a bit high and make the GK move backwards and you will score. She gave up 5 goals and 4 of those were totally savable. Her first step was almost always in the totally wrong direction and she seems to be totally unable to jump and her distribution would be better by a slightly big U10 player.

She is the reason Panama had no chance to recover because she only saved the shots that hit her and she was even mispositioned for a couple of those.

Aside for 8 or 19 glaring errors that amounted to nothing the Puerto Rico GK was somewhat better. Puerto Rico scored about 6 goals but one was a really great header into their own net. If I had been the coach I would have replaced the GK at the half and, maybe, even subbed her after the third stupid goal.

With that GK Panama is of no threat to anyone in their group.
But it is only the first match and kids often rebound from a really bad match like this was. But I expect they will end up losing all three of their matches by multiple goals.
The Canada vs Nicaragua match just started and both teams are playing better that either team in the earlier match. Canada is already up 1-0 at the 15th minute and it looks like Nicaragua might get to double figures in touches in the Canada's box but it is looking unlikely in the extreme.

Referees are pretty bad today as the ref just missed a pretty clear red card for a studs up challenge by Nicaragua and the ref in the earlier match was just as bad. But, shortly after that Canada was awarded a PK that got reversed, somehow. This marks the first time in a non-VAR match since Kasey Keller got one for handling outside the box but it that I have ever seen a refs decision reversed by the ref. But the original call was pretty questionable.
At least, in this match, so far the GKs are actually playing the position pretty intelligently. Of course Canada's 'keeper has only faced 1 or 2 weak shots from outside the box.
It just went to 2-0 as Canada looks to be on the way to another CONCACRAP blowout.
Canada just went up 3-0 and it is not that close.

Right now it really looks like Canada does not have any real competition to winning the group and progressing to the U17 WC.

BTW: For those that do not know there will be no matches after group play but there is another way for second place teams in the group to get a spot. I am not sure exactly how that works but the announcers have said there is a way for 2nd place teams to get into the U17 WC. Maybe there will be a single group tournament for the 3 third place teams or they could play a home and home round robin. Either way, unless something really changes, CONCACAF will have at least two horrible sides in the U17 WWC. But every tournament needs a few of those. ;)

The winners of each group 3 of them and the best second place qualify. So unlikely to be a really bad team.

All matches will take place in the City of Rabat.
Also Morocco given 5 years as host is such a gift from FIFA.
