So don’t get involved. I have known a few of the leadership people back in the days of getting our paper tickets day of game from Robert and Kevin and I know Chris, but other than that I really don’t care what goes on. It’s not why I’m there. When we moved from HCS to LDC, I asked my daughter if she wanted to upgrade to another section and she said I could do what I want but she will be standing in the smoke, flags and chanting. So we stayed. And I’m glad we did regardless of the idiocy of those that want some kind of control.
Asking for a friend - Am “I” a prideful, pompous ass for having a lovely, glowing feeling when “I” happen to tell someone that we are Crew season ticket holders?
Tell that to whichever idiot FO member it was that told Nordecke representatives it was ok to lose fans. They got replacements in numbers, yeah, but once you lose a fan, you're not getting them back and probably not even some of their friends who would have gone.
There may have been a list of people waiting for season tickets last year...but that is gone now after the past seven months.
My tickets have gone from $36 per seat in 2021 to $60.23 per seat next season. I'm almost at the point where it makes way more sense to give them up and just buy seats every week since there's almost no real sellouts and they constantly offer deals to purchase tickets (like free swag, food, etc). Only thing keeping me in my seats is that I'm row 1 dead center of the south stands and you can't really beat the spot. If they switch the calendar though, I'm out. I've been a season ticket holder via my family or myself since year 1.
The more I think about it, the more appealing this gets. Especially if the calendar moves. One thing that no one really talks about as we have these "are season tickets worth it" discussions is the aspect of speaking with our wallets. Committing to season tickets is an indicator of unconditional financial support for the club for the given year. To me, that's a big part of why I have mine.
This you? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6579377/2025/08/29/mls-flag-policy-fans-columbus-palestine-israel/
Another reason for STH is getting the seats you want for your team's "Can't Miss" ... at non-resale pricing. For me, there are only 2 Can't Miss Crew homes ... Cincinnati and Miami. Miami was moved to Cleveland in a blatant cash grab. The rest of the schedule is "Generic MLS team at LDC." MLS and the Crew have a lot of work to do in defining the compellingness and value proposition of all games at LDC. 30 years in ... I am not optimistic that either see the urgency and need to do so.
In contrast ... my future brother-in-law paid me $300 for his ticket and tailgating donation to today's Texas at Ohio State football game. And said after the game, "That was an event. Your seats are awesome. You cant drop those season tickets. I will pay $500 or $600 if you can get someone to give up going with you to the Penn State game." IMO, the Crew cant compere with that loyalty and passion where cost does not matter (much). And it should not. Focusing on cost sensitivity and perks/special access/constant reminders of being appreciated is where the Crew needs to hug its STH year round (non-premium and premium).
If/when they do another equipment sale, it wouldn't be hard at all to make early access a season ticket benefit. Option 1 was done in the past: Premium seat holders at 9am. Full season holders at 10am. Partial season at 11am. Public at 12pm. Option 2: Bring back (tweak?) the legacy club. Season ticket holders with more than X years of consistent membership get benefits. Every 3-5 years, additional benefits are added. Heck, combine this with the above: Season ticket holders with over 20 years seniority get in at 9am. Season ticket holders with 15-19 years get in at 10am. Season ticket holders with 10-14 years get in at 11am. Season ticket holders with over 5-9 years get in at 12. Everyone else at 1. (Times are merely rough examples of something that could be done.) It's a benefit which not only costs nothing, but makes money for their cause.
And they need to control the gate better. I was second or third in line and went directly to the jerseys. By the time I got there there were already 30-40 people in front of me. Maybe more. And it was a short distance. I wanted an Ocean Blue--and I saw it but it was gone by the time i got there. Still got some decent stuff but.... I almost got knocked down.
I've been getting hit up by the ticket office for the 'family friendly' Patio 96 that starts out at $3,100 per seat. If we move back to Ohio next year, $3,100 a seat is not really family-friendly pricing when daycare is north of $400 a week.
I can't wait for the kids to be in kindergarten. I don't even know what I'm going to do with an extra $4k a month but it certaintly will probably involve a lot of gambling with @DrunkandDisorderly
"I'm gonna start my own family-friendly Crew section! With hookers and blackjack! Actually, forget the Crew!" --Bender, probably.
I thought my bills would go down when my kids got out of daycare and into kindergarten. I was wrong. It just gets allocated differently.
Time to start making that monthly contribution to their 529 accounts. Clothes. Music lessons. Braces. Smartphones. More clothes (for my daughter, primarily). Laptops. Sports fees.Summer camps.
I'm one of the people being moved by the new club seats, upper east side. I ended up being moved back 13 rows. So next year we go from superb seats to good seats. It was great while it lasted.
You and anyone else who will be sitting 13 rows back next season ... are better people than me. Kudos for being able to look beyond (another) blatant cash grab by the organization. I get the impression they will keep squeezing LDC attendees relentlessly ... until it's in their face that they have broken something.
