https://www.news5cleveland.com/spor...-and-how-soccer-might-be-part-of-future-plans Glessing confirms they were going to move the CONCACAF semifinal had the opponent been Miami. Two weeks notice. And they had not played in Cleveland before. But were willing to risk field/logistics/Messi healthy, fan outrage ... and move it anyway. After the obvious divisiveness of tbe game in Cleveland in April to the Crew fan base .... - Why haven't the Crew announced definitively and publicly, "There will be no more games in Cleveland this year, barring a force majeure situation?" - Why not change the STH language about ability to change home game venue without recourse for customers to get a refund? - Also ... why did the Haslams and Edwards request ... and receive ... MLS territorial rights to NE Ohio as a condition of buying the team? The probabilities are always with playing in Columbus... until another decent opportunity to play in Cleveland pops up. It may be Miami or FC Cincinnati this fall. If not, Glessing confirms an Ability To Pivot whenever the next chance develops.
"Haslam Sports Group and the Crew hope that in the future, MLS games can find a home in Cleveland for select games." "We want to engage with as many fans of the game and potential fans of the game as possible and we'll work tirelessly to do that. And when the opportunity presents itself to leverage our platform to do that, we're going to take advantage of it," Glessing said.
That top one isn't an actual quote. The bottom one is though. Top one is a reporters take on it. It also proves that Glessing is a chuckle******** and knows nothing about soccer's rich history in NE Ohio. https://www.news5cleveland.com/spor...-and-how-soccer-might-be-part-of-future-plans
Ha! From the top of my head in no particular order 1. Pink Slips on Andrulis 2. Scoreboard fire (everyone was so confused on what to do) 3. First game 4. MLS Cup(s) 5. Aimer chant and saga (IYKYK) 6. Any Dos a Cero 7. "Brawl" with West Ham fans 8. Buck a Brat nights 9. Save the Crew playoff game 10. The Toronto game with 2000+ and they got out cheered after talking smack
If something were to happen to make LDC not playable, HCS is a suitable replacement if the game can be played on plastic. Cleveland is getting MLS Next Pro and a women's team and, I'm assuming, keeping their existing team. Ya gotta strike early. Yes.
Cleveland got passed over for a NWSL club, I doubt they would be in the running for a team anytime soon.
Blake, Katherine, and I after the Open Cup final in 2002. Eggy next if you count him falling over the rail onto the field while trying to hug Freddy Garcia. But surely someone had to go before us in 2002?
I thought I'd be smart and not mention her although I obviously don't know how the breakup happened (and don't need to know). I didn't realize Blake and Eggy were part of it. I'm not surprised Eggy fell over the rail. Brook went a few years later in 2005 when he wanted to celebrate with the USMNT. The judge called him the city's first soccer hooligan. There was a guy in a luchador mask who went a few years after that. There was a guy who went from the NE corner, appeared to kick a DC(?) player in the knee/leg and then left via the SE corner, but I can't remember what year that was. This may have been 1999 or 2000. I remember the path he took and I vaguely remember DC's jerseys that day. There may have been others.
My new seats this year are in section 208 right next to the visitors section. I didn't enjoy hearing the Cincy fans chanting Cleveland everytime we were chanting Columbus. This could have been 100% avoided.
...and I just remembered about OG Blake. I was thinking you meant HSH Blake. I only saw him once or twice after he stopped being a regular. He mentioned something about being in law school.
Catching up on alerts after getting home from vacation, so apologies for the necropost. We are getting a women's team up here, but it's minor league (WPSL Pro).
Nordecke is doing its own post miami cleveland game survey since the Crew did not send one out https://nordecke.com/?mailpoet_rout...HM0MGciLCIxMDgiLCI0MTMyZmRhZGFhYjEiLGZhbHNlXQ Not sure why the crew wouldnt send one out. Good time to try to get opinions from outsiders. If they didnt want all negative feedback and that's why, then that is stupid. You can even filter out STM from single ticket buyers
The Crew did send a survey, they just didn't send a survey to STMs because they basically knew how we all felt.
I just filled out post game surveys from both Charlotte and St Louis. My favorite part about the Charlotte survey, is they asked for a ranking of 1 to 10 for Minty! (Which I didn't know Minty was the soccer ball mascot name). Probably second best mascot in sports after Gritty. Edit: It is 'Sir Minty', thank you very much.
Good. It means they heard us. With that said, my survey from the Nordecke was filled out. I'm still in the camp of "the door isn't 100% closed" but hopefully it's a long, long time until they try that boneheaded move again. Do it with an exhibition vs a top-tier European team (STMs with an early purchase opportunity) and let's see what level of outrage there is then. My guess? Very minimal.
https://www.gofevo.com/event/614night2 $59 gets you a scarf and a ticket in 209 (the normal away fans section) for the 6/14 game vs Vancouver. It's also fireworks night.
They won't last long. I tried to pick up a pass for the summer movie series yesterday evening. They were all gone--yet had been issued that day.
